The Certainty of Violet and Luke (Callie and Kayden Series #5) by Jessica Sorensen

Violet Hayes’s life is a mess. Between her stalker, Preston, refusing to leave her alone, her parents’ case still being unsolved, and falling behind in school, she always feels on the verge of losing it. When some unexpected news comes her way, it’s the final straw and she ends up doing something that almost costs her life. Thankfully, she survives and makes a promise to herself to put her life back together and to try and figure out exactly how she feels about Luke Price, the one person that’s always there for her.

But as a recovering alcoholic and gambler, Luke has his own struggles to overcome. He’s also fallen in love with Violet, but fears telling her the truth, that it will scare her away or worse, she won’t reciprocate the feeling. Plus, there never seems to be a right time to say it, either the case, Preston, or life getting in the way.

Can the two of them ever get enough peace in their lives to conquer their fears and finally tell each other the truth about how they feel?

Just love this story!

(2.5 stars) This could be the hardest review I've had to write so far. I don't think I've been this disappointed in a book, or series of books before. I enjoyed Violet & Luke's first book, even though the second was different than expected it was ok but the third IMO was a let down. Did the characters grow & end up where they should've? Yes. I did enjoy watching Violet grow & discover things about herself but I felt the third book had so much potential that wasn't expanded upon. The first 30% it was the same things rehashed from the first two books. About half way it picked up. I was happy to see Violet get help & find a way to let out her anger but by the end, events that were built up in the first two books came to a lack luster end. Well, one did & the other was just left kind of left unresolved. I know this series is a total of 7 or so books about various characters and I hope the last two restore my faith in the series as a whole. - Nothing can be erased in life. Life is permanent, from the breaths we take to the decisions we make. And I've made some pretty s*y ones.

These two have gone through so much in their young lives, and finally find the piece and happiness they deserve, I truly hope the author leaves it at that, this should be THE END...

I have loved all of these books! I am so glad that this story ended in a HEA. I have to admit I had my doubts if she was really going to let it happen. I am so glad that both characters started to grow and heal. It is nice to get a chance to see the other characters we love from Kayden and Callie in this one as much as they were too. It seems like a happy family when you read them all together now just like a continuous journey in the life of these people. It was worth the wait to see how this story ends. Now on to Callie and Kayden.

I have been a huge fan of Jessica Sorensen from day one and loved all of her books thus far so when the opportunity to review this next installment in The Coincidence Series came up, I knew I had to take it. I was completely glued to my tablet as soon as I started this book and couldn’t put it down. I even carried it with me to the kitchen while I cooked dinner. So, yeah, I was a bit obsessed with getting the conclusion to Violet and Luke’s story. Violet and Luke are starting to heal from all that’s happened but a lot is still uncertain for them. They are both starting to realize some of the things that they want and it was truly enjoyable to watch things come together for them. I’ve loved these characters for a long time and was so glad when they got their own books. Both of them have come a long way from where they stared at the beginning of the series. The trials they have to go through were hard to read about but I was rooting for them all the way. Jessica has an uncanny ability to portray wonderfully flawed characters who from the surface seem beyond help but will prove you wrong. She always manages to drag some hefty emotions out of her readers and I think that makes one exceptional author. The story line really came together well. I was kept on the edge of my seat in anticipation and enjoyed every minute of it. This was a fantastic read and definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 stars!

~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Something has torn Violet and Luke so far apart that it seems almost impossible for them to be together now. But Jessica Sorensen doesn’t allow that to stand in the way of a happily ever after for them. Yet there’s more to it than the secrets and lies between Luke and Violet that prevent them from being together, it’s also their state of minds. Violet has always been a smartass. She’s the bad girl of the bunch, the rebel, but she’s also very, very insecure about herself. Because of what Preston has done to her, she is brainwashed into thinking that she can’t be loved and most of the story is about her trying to get over that. She struggles and she struggles hard, creating an angst-ridden emotional rollercoaster ride that makes you sympathetic to her. But what she hasn’t come to realize is that she is already loved by someone who will stop at nothing to protect her. Luke is a great hero. His unconditional love and support for Violet shines throughout the book. Since this book centers about Preston, Violet’s stalker and her healing, Luke’s presence is constant throughout but is never quite put in the spotlight as much as Violet is. I was fine with this because I felt like there would be too much going on otherwise. Sorensen plays up the romance so that you definitely feel that Violet and Luke are getting the happily ever after romance that they deserve. There’s one thing I always enjoy about Sorensen’s writing and that is how she is able to get inside her character’s heads. It’s not always a happy place, but Sorensen always manages to hit that perfect amount of angst so that readers feel sympathetic and connected to the reader, but don’t feel too bogged down with emotions themselves Readers who follow the series will be thrilled to note the appearances of some familiar faces in the series, as well as the introduction of a character that I think will play a part in Sorensen’s future books. THE CERTAINTY OF VIOLET AND LUKE is a touching story of healing and heart. More than just a romance, Sorensen plays up the importance of finding and embracing one’s worth.
