About the Author

Virginia is the author of three previous novels, Island Healing, Greta’s Grace, and The Chapels on the Hill. Born and raised in Chicago, Virginia has been lucky enough to live in many locales, including the U.S. Virgin Islands. She began her writing career when she moved to the coast of Maine, soon breaking in to magazines with articles about sailing/cruising, family living, and children’s literature.

In the 1980s, Virginia entered the book publishing arena with coauthored books on medical topics and soon became a ghostwriter/editor for doctors, therapists, business leaders, professional speakers, and many others with a story to tell. Virginia has written over 100 books for her clients, including 12 titles for Alan R. Hirsch, M.D., a neurologist-psychiatrist and developer of Sensa, the popular weight loss program. Her coauthored books include, The Oxygen Revolution (Hatherleigh, 3rd edition, 2012), written with Paul Harch, M.D., a pioneer in the field of hyperbaric medicine; Option Trading in Your Spare Time (Sourcebooks) with Wendy Kirkland, an expert in option trading; and 52 Ways to Bring More Humor, Hugs, and Hope into Your Life, with professional speaker, Greg Risberg, MSW, CSP.

In 2011, she and a friend and colleague, Lynda McDaniel, cofounded The Book Catalysts, a book writing coaching service that also offers tools for writers, including the e-book, Write Your Book Now!. Since she likes nothing more than hanging out with other writers, Virginia belongs to the Authors Guild and the Romance Writers of America, along with several of its affiliate chapters. A three-time Golden Heart finalist, Virginia’s manuscripts have won writing awards. When asked about the themes that emerge in her fiction, Virginia says she likes to explore the various ways we create families, and her books always focus on hope, healing, and plenty of second chances. Virginia currently calls Green Bay, Wisconsin home.

The Chapels on the Hill is the emotional journey of Aaron and Sonia Chapel as they cope with the tragic death of their seventeen year old son Matt after a post 9/11 plane crash. Set in Lady’s Fingers, Wisconsin on the Chapel family’s tourist garden, readers are treated to a skillfully woven series of flashacks showing Aaron and Sonia’s relationship spanning the decades from 1984 to 2006. From their unexpected pregnancy and abrupt wedding, to the trials and tribulations of raising a musical prodigy, Aaron and Sonia find love and navigate parenthood as a team until tragedy strikes.  Losing their only child, Sonia and Aaron are consumed with grief. Sonia tries to find solace in creating a memorial for their son to keep his memory alive while Aaron would rather continue to investigate whether the plane crash was an act of terrorism. In The Chapels on the Hills, Virginia McCullough masterfully explores the aftermath of the Chapels losing the son that brought them together.
