The potential for a happy abundant Christian life is available to all who would make Jesus the Lord of their lives, yet there are many Christians whose lives lack the joy and fullness of a truly happy life. A keen observer once said to me, "You Christians seem to have a religion that makes you miserable. You are like a man with a headache. He does not want to get rid of his head, but it hurts him to keep it. You cannot expect outsiders to seek earnestly for anything so uncomfortable." Then, for the first time I saw that the religion of Christ ought to be, and was meant to be, something that would make its possessors happy, not miserable. I began then and there to ask the Lord to show me the secret of a happy Christian life.

Please note that this book has been very poorly published. Starting with the cover and the misspelling of the author's first name! Inside, the chapters are not numbered and there are many typo errors throughout the book that should have been corrected. One chapter in particular has 2 pages completely unable to follow. I bought several copies of this book for a book study and was very disappointed. This classic book is one of my favorites and should have been published with more care.
The publisher's warning to parents is ridiculous. Every classical book -- including the Bible -- was written in a historical context.
this is one of the best books written regarding christians experiences on allowing god to be of great work in our lives.I truly feel that for me this book was a definite god send, very inspirational and parably scriptorial. i can go on and on. I didn't realize how books were as well written during the 1800's. I had to buy 10 more copies to give as gifts to some of my friends and family. awesome read about an awesome god!!!!
