The Cinderella Scheme by Toni Blake is a wonderful twist to a beloved fairy tale. Cassie Turner is working hard as a waitress but she has a good head on her shoulder and wants to delve into the business world. She meets CEO Evan Hunter when she spills tea on him at her place of work. Cassie’s friend has tickets to the most sought after event in town and Cassie runs into Evan again, but he doesn’t recognize her. This starts a series of falsehoods that could back fire on Cassie. Cassie and Evan slowly fall in love but will the truth about Cassie help or hurt her? This is a delightful story with a exceptional spin on the fairy tale. I enjoyed reading it immensely.

Ms. Blake has penned a very creative take on the Cinderella theme we all know and love. In “The Cinderella Scheme”, we meet Cassie, a waitress who wants a career in the business world, and Evan, the CEO of his family’s cosmetics company. Their attraction begins when Evan visits the diner where Cassie works and she spills a glass of iced tea on him. Their attraction continues, and the web of Cinderella-esque illusion begins, at a charity ball when Evan asks Cassie to dance. Cassie is compassionate and generous and wants more for herself. She is also plagued with self-doubt in her ability to become more. Evan is respectful and a gentleman who wants to save the business his mother created. Yet both Cassie and Evan hold back pieces of their true selves from each other while falling more and more in love. Eventually though, both reveal what they’ve been hiding and the illusion crashes to reality with a perfect ending that anyone who enjoyed the original Cinderella’s story would enjoy. “The Cinderella Scheme” has several scenes which will make you smile and give you a feel-good feeling with its sweetness and doses of spice. Originally released in 1998, this happily-ever-after story definitely stands the test of time.
