Mrs. D once again brings us on a delightful journey with her fabulous picture book, The City Kittens and the Old House Cat. The perfect story to read at Christmas time when we prepare to celebrate our blessings and to be thankful for the love of our family. It is the story of Nydia, an old established cat, who has no patience for the two frisky kittens, calling them pampered city cats. Her opinion of them soon changes when she hears of the bleak conditions the kittens were found in. The illustrations are splendid and would bring a smile to any young reader. This book goes beyond the cute story about a grumpy cat at Christmas time. There is a message of tolerance for young and old, and a gentle reminder not to judge others. Murielle C

What a wonderful little story. A cute Christmas story told from the perspective of a cat, Nyda. When two new kittens come to celebrate the holidays, Nyda gets a little more than she imagined. This is a wonderful story about love, compassion, and celebrating the joy of Christmas. The illustrations are wonderful, and help bring the story to life. It is a happy story that illustrates how similar we are all, even our pets, and how wonderful it is to love, and to help. A great story with a positive message, a perfect addition to the holiday library, and holiday traditions. Perfect for the family and all animal lovers.

This is a lovely sweet story by Mrs. D., Olga D' Agostino. This lovely colorful illustrated book centers around Nyda the house cat. Christmas holiday cat Nyda is reminiscing about Christmas gatherings in the house as family comes home for the holiday. One Christmas the daughter brings home two kittens. Nyda delightfully describes how the dominate cat treats new comers. Made me smile , as I read this story from a Cat's point of view. The story weaves in lessons of acceptance and reminds us that most of us start our in very similar circumstances as family and friends enter our lives. I enjoyed the lovely heart warming holiday story and I think most kids will love following Nyda in the house as she tells her stories .

This is an amazing tale (pun intended).  The author captures the true meaning of the holidays love, compassion and joy.  The underlying meaning that we should never judge a book by its cover.

Snuggle up in front of the fire and share this sweet kitty tale with your little ones.  Bright, richly detailed illustrations bring the story to life as the old cat learns to accept two little intrusions.   Fun book to put on your wish list, especially around the holiday season.  A delight for any cat or animal lover!

It is time to decorate for Christmas and this was one of Nyda the cat's favorite times of the year.  She stayed inside all warm and cozy while Mrs.D cooked all kinds of special treats which she was allowed to eat.  A special tree was brought into the house and was decked out with colorful ornaments and lights. Then there were the guest that came to visit including Mrs.D's daughters.  There were two litt\tle problems the daughters brought two kittens, city kittens all pampered and spoiled putting Nyda's into a bad mood. She would like to see the kitten leave her home.  What could possibly change Nyda's attitude toward these two cute frisky kittens? The author has written a sweet tale of two city kittens and an old house cat.  It brought back some happy memories for me also. It has me ready to pull out the Christmas decorations.  I am a cat lover and I just so happen have two cute kittens that like to provoke my two dogs and my grown cats.  They are very entertaining like Mickey and Jack the city kittens.  The author writes from her heart and family experiences makeing her stories that much more endearing. This book and her others will make wonderful gifts and keepsakes for any child.  As far as that go they make wonderful books to have on hand at the grandparents house. I highly recommend this book. Disclosure:  I received a free copy of this book from the author for review.  I was in no way compensated for this review.  This review is my honest opinion.

Open your heart to new people... Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review When I saw the cover of this book I knew I’d love it. The cats portrayed on the cover looked like cats that I have owned. As I read this lovely children’s book, Mrs. D.’s love for children, animals and storytelling came through in a clear and gentle tone. Nyda, the old house cat, shares her home with Mrs. D. and is comfortably set in her ways until some new kittens visited one Christmas. These kittens arrived in fashionable kitten carrier bags, and seemed to be quite spoiled. Nyda resented these new intruders, who were playing with her toys and eating her food. As time passes, Nyda learns that the new cats weren't always loved, and that they come from a very difficult past. She opens her heart and learns to love the cats, too. Mrs. D. weaves wonderful lessons of acceptance, adoption and not judging other people without getting to know them into this sweet children’s picture book. I highly recommend it for young children.

I enjoyed this tale about a family cat who at Christmas remembers her former friend, who is now in "kitty heaven." When two new kittens accompany a family member for Christmas festivities, Nyda is not too pleased. However, she demonstrates she is a cat with a heart as she hears how the two kittens came into the family. This is a delightful story of a family, and memories and open hearts.

Reviewed by Mamta Madhavan for Readers' Favorite The City Kittens and the Old House Cat is a story written with a Christmas backdrop. Nyda, the cat, is happy in the family where she is living and she has settled into a comfortable routine. Her life changes when the eldest daughter of the family brings in two new kittens, Mickey and Jack. There is a lot of activity in the house and Nyda feels a little irritated with all the noise and happenings, and she resents their presence in the family. The story is a beautiful story of love and compassion. The way Nyda changes from a selfish and self-centered cat is truly amazing. It is a message for all of us that  we need to change and a positive change is good for anyone. The book also speaks about how we get comfortable with our mundane lives and we do not want it to change for fear of losing comfort and the security we are used to.  The City Kittens and the Old House Cat is an inspiring story written from a cat's point of view. The story can be understood by all pet lovers. The book has some beautiful and colorful illustrations. That makes the book very attractive and visually appealing, something which all the kids love. Children's books should be colorful and bright. The message of tolerance is very important in the current living situation. The book has a nice moral which can be explained to children and they can be asked to practice it too.

This story is more than a story about cats. This story is about compassion toward our little friends, animals. Christmas and kittens… What a sweet combination! It is summer outside, but reading this lovely book, I feel like Christmas already is here and I want to take my cats and go visit my family. The colorful illustrations brought the holidays to my tiny apartment and filled my heart with warmth and love. The story briefly describes the life of the old cat during Christmas time. Nyda (the name of the cat is very intriguing) loves traditions of the family who adopted her when she was a kitten. The old cat is used to her routine during holidays, but the new addition to the family, two adopted kittens that arrived from a big city, disturbs her settled life. The old house cat is not willing to share with newcomers her family and belongings. The playfulness of the cute kittens makes her upset and grumpy until the evening, when she finds out where kittens came from… The story line is sweet and simple. The illustrations are impressive and vivid. They easily give the reader a glimpse inside a life of the family and cats. Beautifully illustrated book! The story teaches young readers about true meaning of family, holidays, kindness and compassion. It also shows them how grateful we should be for everything we have. This book carries important lessons about responsibilities toward the little creatures. I hope that after reading the story of the little kittens, people will be much kinder and will seriously take responsibilities for caring and protecting animals. If you are looking for a book with great morals, then this book is definitely for you. Wonderful read for the entire family!

Dear Mrs. D !!! All your books are marvelous and unique. Carlo the Mouse on vacation is a funny, wonderful adventures of the little mouse. The Trees Have Hearts is a touching, beautiful story of friendship, loyalty and mutual support. What about The City Kittens and the Old House Cat? This story will not leave indifferent any child or adult, and will give a lot of positive emotions. Christmas atmosphere gives a feeling of a holiday, and the holiday is always a joy for kids and parents. Smart tricky Nyda the cat puts a smile on children's faces, at the same time, the appearance of two funny naughty kittens make us worry about her. Reading this book, we experience full range of feelings from despair to tears of joy. This is an amazing story about kindness. Here, human kindness shown through love for animals. Kind heart of the girls solved destiny of homeless cats and her unhappy kittens. This is a great lesson for our kids: no one can be a kind person who is cruel to animals. Stunning illustrations heighten the sense of the reality of the events described in the book. And maybe it's real, this kind story with a happy ending? :)) You are amazing, Mrs. D ! Love and Hugs !!
