The Code Busters Club, Case #3: The Mystery of the Pirate's Treasure by Penny Warner

Fans of The 39 Clues and A to Z Mysteries (Ron Roy) series will have tons of fun creating the codes right along with the characters in this interactive series.

Cody, Quinn, Luke, and M.E. love playing around with codes. In fact, they love codes so much they have their own club, with a secret hideout and passwords that change every day.

On a class trip to the Cornell Mission, The Code Busters learn about Hippolyte de Bouchard, California's only known pirate.

Now the Code Busters are on the trail of a new prize: pirate gold! But with a fortune at stake, the codes are bound to be hard. Will the Code Busters be able to figure them out, or will this mystery prove to be too difficult to solve?

I received a copy of The Mystery of the Pirate's Treasure from NetGaley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. As I am able to read a bit about the books before I choose I try to choose books that appeal to either myself or someone I am intending to give a copy of the book to as a gift. I have been lucky not to get many ARCs that have not met my expectations. I try to be honest in my rating and the opinions and comments expressed are my own. But with a fortune at stake, the codes are bound to be hard. Will the Code Busters be able to figure them out, or will this mystery prove to be too difficult to solve? My Review: I have a large extended family and we were all raised to be readers and have raised the next generation the same. This is a book that covers two of their likes, puzzles and codes and a great mystery. The authors writing brings the characters to life and keeps the reader involved with the code busting process and interpretation of the clues. The three I purchased this book loved it and talked their parents into buying the other books in the series for them. Chad, age 11, not willing to wait for his birthday spent his allowance on books 1 and 2. He is one of the hardest to find something he will enjoy reading. The stories moves quickly and the kids enjoy discussing the book between themselves and their friends. I found this book to be enjoyable to read to my overnight visitors and decided a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This is an excellent series that my 9 year old son loves. I loved reading mystery books growing up by my son hasn't really been that interested until we happened upon these books. My son loves them, especially figuring out the codes, and the books keep him very engaged. Great series and I look forward to many more! :-)

Hott Synopsis: “A pirate named Hippolyte. A hidden treasure at a mission. An overnight field trip. A hunt for mission bells. This is awesome!” When the Code Busters hear that their class is going on an overnight field trip to visit a local mission where it’s said that treasure is lost due to the pirate Hippolytede Bouchard their code breaking senses kick into overdrive. If only they can keep Matt the Brat from ruining it for everyone! Hott Review: What I liked: The Mystery of the Pirate’s Treasure is perfect! I have a middle-grade trio around here – a daughter and two nieces – that have recently started their own detective agency. This is prefect. Not only is it adorable and GREATLY informative but’s it’s so much fun! This is the perfect book to add to their code-breaking skills!! What I didn’t like: I’m going to have to buy three sets of these books & they’re not cheap!
