Overview

Carla Matthews is a single mother struggling to make ends meet and give her daughter Kaleigh a decent upbringing.  When Kaleigh’s absent father Seth—a famous alpine climber who never wanted to be tied down—begs for a second chance at fatherhood, Carla is hesitant because she doesn’t want to pin her hopes on a man who is always seeking another mountain to scale. A man who was never willing to stay put in one place and raise a family.

But when Seth’s plane goes missing after a crash landing in the harsh Canadian wilderness, Carla must wait for news…  Is he dead or alive? Will the wreckage ever be found?
One year later, after having given up all hope, Carla receives a phone call that shocks her to her core. A man has been found, half-dead, floating on an iceberg in the North Atlantic, uttering her name.  Is this Seth? And is it possible that he will come home to her and Kaleigh at last, and be the man she always dreamed he would be?

This was a good book but not my favorite in the series. Sometimes the coinsidences seem a little far fetched but for the most part I did enjoy it and would recommend it.

This is my second reading in Julianne MacLean's "Color of" books and I was not disappointed. This book contained all the same charm as the other.  Julianne does a nice job creating characters that a reader can care about and root for. Even the characters who do not have a happy ending (at least in the current book) are people a reader comes to love. The sad part of "The Color of Love" is that I wanted to see Seth get a happy ending as well. And maybe he did, but not how I wanted it. You'll have to read the book to see what happens with Seth. I did have a couple issues with the story line. First, I had a hard time believing that a woman would still be devoted to a husband who was in and out of her life as frequently as Seth was. If I read the story correctly, it had been 3 years since he had done anything more than send money to his wife and daughter. And there had not been enough contact between father and daughter for her to have any kind of relationship with the man. Just a bit hard to believe. Secondly, the survival episodes in the book were also a little hard to swallow. I read in the author's comments at the back of the book that MacLean did research for the story, so I guess I will give her the benefit of the doubt, but for a person to survive on an uninhabited island off the coast of Newfoundland also seemed to stretch my ability to suspend belief. Otherwise, the story was well told. The characters likable (as I mentioned before) and the story line interesting. This is another one of those books that make for good reading on a cold afternoon in front of a fire. And I will probably read more in the series. I do like that MacLean takes secondary characters from one book and gives them their own stories.

Don't have any feeling for her characters because they are so one dimensional. The first of her books rhat I read was the same, but I had hopes that this one would be better. Alas,no. Her stories have potential but read as if they were written by a very young person in her first creative writing class.

A very emotional read! I felt so sad for all the wasted years Carla spent waiting to be loved. She was such a strong woman and didn't let it make her bitter. Seth was an overgrown child who realized too late what he was loosing. I loved the strength Aaron displayed while he fought to survive and he was so amazing to Carla afterward, he truly loved her and placed her needs above his. I likes Josh but he just didn't fit... Sooo glad he is getting his story this Christmas!

The Color of Love - Book 6 in The Color of Heaven Series is as wonderful as each book in this series before it. The books all tie together, while still moving on. I sometimes miss characters from previous books in a series, but Julianne has a way of grabbing her readers from page one. There is just enough reference to past characters to make each new book feel like an old friend, while at the same time bringing an excitement that keeps you from putting the book down. You feel drawn in and want to know all about the new characters on the canvas. Always inspirational, these stories really make you think...and count your blessings. I'm so excited to know where the next book picks up! This series easily stands out as one of the best I've ever read. (No unnecessary sex, violence or foul language.) Keep them coming!

Excellent story of hope and second chance of love! Julianne MacLean is one of my favorite author of contemporary romance! I adored THE COLOR OF LOVE, again, she wrote a heartwarming and captivating love story of three lovable characters Carla, Kaleigh and Aaron, who get a second chance at love. The story was a real page turner! When, I saw the cover of her book, I felt compelled to read it, am I glad that I did, Ms. MacLean didn't disappoint me. I love her style of writing, it got me pull into her story so fast, that I could not put it down, read it in one day. This is her sixth novel of The Color of Heaven series. The story starts as a small airplane crashes leaving some passengers to survive in the wilderness, sharing secrets, regrets and dreams. In the Color of Love, we follow two parallel lives simultaneously! While, a single mother named Carla is living with her young daughter, trying also to survive financially and emotionally. Their lives will intertwine and if you believe that some things are meant to happen, then this story will be perfect for you. I prefer that you read this emotional story, instead of giving too many clues that might spoil your lecture. Give it a chance, you won't regret it. I was so touched by the relationship and the beautiful chemistry between her charming characters. I really enjoyed this historical romance novel filled with tenderness and hope! I strongly recommend THE COLOR OF LOVE to be released on August 11th and looking forward to read next, her seventh book THE COLOR OF THE SEASON.
