Ruby has been a fixture in the Blessings stories (although, like all of them, this book can stand on its own) and I’m so happy to see her finally get her turn. And you definitely couldn’t ask for a better partner for her than Peanut. Readers should be prepared though because from the very beginning Sala will pull you in. And then not let go! Over the years Ruby has done everything she could to help the people of her town … but she has kept something secret. An abusive ex, who has decided now is the time to make an appearance. Things don’t go well and, well, Ruby finds herself tied up & kidnapped. It’s a harrowing few pages, for us and for her and for Peanut. Things might get resolved pretty quickly, and in typical Ruby fashion (love that gal!), but it’s going to take a lot of courage to face the aftermath. With Ruby’s kidnapping, Peanut realizes what his inaction might have cost him and he’s not willing to let another moment go by without Ruby knowing exactly how he feels about her. And because Peanut is just about perfect, he does it with lots of heart, understanding, and down-home charm. And because Ruby is Ruby, she handles it with her typical sass and spunk … eventually. It’s not easy to take on everything that life throws at her, with barely giving her a breath, but she has the courage and spine to take on whatever she has to with style. You have to admire how she faces things head on, even when seems like it won’t end. The Color of Love starts off with a bang and barely manages to slow down before it gets you again. With a bit of danger and a whole lot of heart, Sala once again shows us why she’s a master writer. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. Blessings, Georgia is an imaginary town where I would love to live. It is so realistic. This town really protects and looks after its own. I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I laughed out loud, cried silent tears, and cheered with joy. Ruby, who I believe is the most key character in this series, gets her chance with love. Peanut Butterman, the town lawyer, another key character in Blessings, is one of the biggest heroes in this story. You will find how the town handles abuse, crime, struggles, and how helping others is huge. This can be read as a stand alone, but trust me, you will want to read about the other heroes in this town and how they became the persons they are now. I love this series!

This was my first visit to Blessings, Georgia and I loved it! Such a fun, quirky, sweet, emotional romantic journey for this adorable couple. Ruby Dye small town hair salon owner has been receiving presents from a secret admire and is the talk of the town. Peanut (P. Nutt) Butterman is the small towns only lawyer and the sweetest. He has his eye on Ruby and is forced to come out of his shell to protect her when her past comes back with a vengeance. Highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling and engaging cuddled up in bed reading. Now have the overwhelming urge to go back and read the beginning of the series.

The Color of Love by Sharon Sala is the 5th book in her Blessings, Georgia series. Having read all the books in this series, I was looking forward to reading The Color of Love, as Ruby Dye is the heroine. Ruby has been from the start, the heart of everyone in Blessings, Georgia, as she is always the one who will help them when in need. She is the one everyone loves, as they know they can always count on Ruby. Now this is her story, and it was awesome from start to finish. In the last book, we learned that Ruby has a secret admired in town, and she prays its Peanut Butterman (the local lawyer). Before he can tell her how he feels, and he is her secret admirer, Ruby is attacked and brutally beaten by her ex-husband. She manages to escape, and hurt her ex, who is then captured. Peanut and the sheriff Lon, bring her home where she will be brought to Peanut’s house to recover. Everyone in town comes forth to help Ruby, and in no time she is able to return to her salon, and helping others. She is also thrilled to know that Peanut loves her, and soon their romance becomes known and the town is happily congratulating them. But just when things are going good, Ruby is once again attacked by her ex’s brother, and Peanut is shot trying to save Ruby. Ruby falls apart, as she fears for Peanut’s life, which hangs precariously; when he does regain conscious, his memory is gone, and he does not know Ruby. The wonderful town will support Ruby, who will force herself to get back to work and help others. There are also two side stories that are nicely done, especially with the great people of Blessings. When Peanut suffers a seizure that once again puts him close to death, Ruby prepares herself for his loss. What follows is a heartwarming & emotional story, on many levels, with Ruby and with the other two side stories. Blessings, Georgia is a wonderful small town, with great characters, and couples that you always root hard for. Sharon Sala writes another fabulous story that had us hooked from the start. She amazes me that she continually gives us such great couples that we become invested in, with each and every book. The Color of Love was a sweet romance, with a lovable couple, wonderful secondary characters that we have come to love and with a touch of suspense. If you enjoy a pure romance, wonderful characters, great couples, and a small town atmosphere, then you should be reading this series.

I have been a fan of the author for years and have always loved her suspense/romance stories, full of complex characters and an engaging plot. When given the opportunity to read this book in her Blessing ,GA series, I did not hesitate. It was definitely different from the previous stories I had read by Ms Sala, and I have to confess, I was taken aback. The style was totally different. Seemed more like a book written by a new YA author and not a seasoned one. The main characters are Ruby Dye and “Peanut”. That said, though the “mystery/action” revolts mostly around Ruby, the story went all over the place. It was quirky, and old fashion, and at times the dialogue seem stilled. More like a 1950s Mulberry story with lots of characters thrown together each having their own idiosyncrasy but none fully developed. Sadly, a disappointment. Since I respect the author’s talent , I have given it a 3 star rating. I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
