Meticulously Research and Well Written Paul Kengor does an excellent job in presenting his case about the politics of Frank Marshall Davis. Rather than basing his book on here-say and conjecture, he goes to the source--CPUSA archives, microfilm newspaper copies, and FBI records--for the facts that he presents. He even shows empathy as to why Frank Davis converted from being a supporter of the Republican Party to a card carrying Communist. He also does a credible job of showing the link between Davis and the Marxist influence on the young Barrack Obama through our President's own words. He also lays out for comparison columns written by Davis and Obama's speeches. If Davis were the only Red in Obama's closet, than the Davis influence would be a mote point; but, Obama continued to seek out and enjoy the company of fellow Marxists like Bill Ayers, Bernadette Dorn, and others. In his vision for change, the transformation of America, Obama echo's the words found in the many editorials written by Frank Davis. The information is laid out in Kengor's book along with notes as where to find the original documents in case you wish to see them with your own eyes. Those puzzled by Obama's meteoric political rise to the Presidency beating out the far more experienced Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, will understand more after reading this book. I found "The Communist" extremely helpful in providing me with information about my own mentor, my father, and his attraction to the Party. Pap was a card carrying communist and worked on many of the same projects as Davis, Robeson, and others mentioned in the book. In learning more about my father's associates, I understand more about his progressive ideas. We are, after all, judged by the company we keep. I found the facts presented by Paul Kengor backed up many of the things my father told me about and warned me might happen in the future. After seeking out the archives to research my own books, Blood on the Constitution and Bucket of Blood the Ragman's War, I now know that truth really can be stranger than fiction. "The change when it comes might seem sudden, but, in really has been happening in small increments all along,'" a quote from my father.

After watching the interview of Paul Kengor and the review he had with Glenn Beck . I will be ordering copys for all my Family and close friends. This book is a jaw dropper. Wish I knew Obamas story before I voted for him last time, with his drug use back ground, he should be in jail, not in the presidency. Hopefully he will be fully VETED this time ? This book and the new movie 2016 OBAMA'S AMERICA. will get us real HOPE and CHANGE.

This book provides an insight into one of the most important mentors of President Obama. Just how much influence did he have on our President and his thoughts and policies which he IS implementing today. Gives one much thought on is this where we want to go?

This book is incredibly researched and written. Be sure and read in the "Acknowledgments" where Dr. Kengor explains his restraint in what to include in this book. You get a sense of the author's and publisher's goal of an accurate, non-sensational portrayal of FMD. You learn a cursory history of the CPUSA, where it intersected w/FMD, but you learn a detailed history of FMD. I agree w/Dr. Kengor's conclusions on FMD's influence on Obama because you can hear it in what Obama says and read it in the news about Obama! Don't let negative reviews keep you from reading this!

I believe that Dr. Paul Kengor’s new book ‘The Communist’ is the modern equivalent of Whittaker Chambers ‘Witness’, in revealing Communist infiltration of the United States.

You know a book is complete garbage when the author needs to reinforce his razor thin arguments and thesis by advertising his fabricated doctorate on the dust jacket. I'll be honest with you. I didn't read this book, nor do I have any intention. If you have half a brain cell, and actually paid attention to Obama's domestic policies, you would realize that Obama is slightly right of center on most economic issues--excluding health care. If you throw health care into the mix, technically Mitt Romney supported an extremely similar health care act as governor of Massachusetts-a piece of legislation that, ironically, he now disagrees with. No one calls Romney a socialist or communist. It's odd and a bit disturbing that so many people, against all reason, continue to espouse this communist label on Obama. I mean liberals have a hard time defending Obama's actions. At least Clinton knew how to politik. I guess if you like repetition and don't mind reading the same propaganda spouted by Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Mark Levin, Fox News, Sean Hannity, the New York Post, the New York Daily News, Anne Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, the Washington Times, the National Review, and the Wall Street Journal (Holy Crap, wow there is clearly a liberal media), than I guess this book will just feed the beast.

Is American University a real school that grants doctorates?? The only people I know who do not like Pres. Obama, all make a hell of a lot more money than me and use the system to avoid paying taxes, while I pay far more than what I can afford.
