I loved this book! The world building was amazing and the idea of humans over populating the galaxy was accurate. I loved Taryn her need for social justice and equality was pretty cool without it being overbearing. I loved her strength and determination to help her people as best she could. Kason though typical patriarch mind set his character was enjoyable too. I admire his duty and his faults along with his ability to admit he had an equal match in Taryn. The only thing that really bothered me about the storyline was the idea of The Barren. When you read the book you'll know, it will piss you off though that's a given. But I LOVED the overall plot and looking forward to seeing more of this world thank you Jessie. Definitely a most read.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! This is the first in a new series by Jessie Donovan. This is for adults only due to the steamy content, and there are no dragon shifters or shifters of any kind in this book. As always Jessie has some awesome characters that definitely didn’t take me long to really like. I especially like Taryn’s determination and her never give up attitude. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like Kason, he was arrogant and definitely sexist. He has grown on me because while he comes from a planet that underutilizes women, he values them above all. I love how he tries to keep an open mind and how Taryn keeps trying to push the limits further and further. They are a great pair, and I can’t wait to see what awaits the rest of them especially the Princess and Vala. Jessie Donovan is fabulous at developing characters you want to know more about and that you become invested in. She knows how to balance drama and action to keep you engaged in the book. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! I recommend this book to anyone who loves Jessie’s writing style and to those Sci-fi lovers who likes aliens and space travel adventures.

This is the story of Taryn, the ruler of Jasvar and Kason, the prince of Kelderan. Taryn's planet was the site for a low tech colony of humans but the are slowly dying out due to a virus they call the doom virus that attacks male embryos. Taryn has a plan to send out an sos to attract alien ships to her planet and then force the males to stay. The last ship was 8 years ago and they are getting desperate. They lure in an alien ship from Kaldera and take the men of the landing party prisoners. Through underhanded means she finds out that the Kalderans planned to take over the planet to give their citizens a place to live as Kaldera is greatly over populated. What ensues is a scheme to take over the Kaldera ship or to at least claim the prince by becoming his bride which forces him to protect her until she can strike a deal with the Kalderan king. This turns out to be more involved than Taryn is expecting because while the Kalderan planet is high tech and more advanced in that manner they are way behind in the way they think and treat their women. Well, the story takes off from there and naturally attraction arises and steamy sex occurs. The twists thrown in just make the story more interesting and makes me think of 'Star Wars meets romance'. The story is well written and the characters developed. I am looking forward to the next story.

This is a fun story with a few twists on what might seems like some classic romance stuff. It was nice to have a science fiction story not just a romance in a sci-fi setting. Looking forward to the next one.

I don't like Sci-Fi much, but I think I'm really going to love this new series by one of my favorite paranormal authors. I love the strong female that can soften the strongest of warriors with mere words and strength of character. Taryn Demara a human will do anything, even sacrifice herself in order to save her home planet Jasvar from extinction. Forgotten by earth they are barely surviving due to a terrible virus that kills any male embryos. They have resorted to kidnapping men that fly through from other planets to continue their existence... It's been 8 years since any have come, but now a ship approaches and these females are ready to trick the men into staying, but Taryn hadn't counted on the impressionable warrior...He makes the strong female do things she's never done before, desire and flirt. General Kason tro de Vallen and prince of Kelderan is more than surprised to have been bested and taken prisoner by a female and a human no less! But thinking on it she may have the solution to his planets dire need. Not to mention the fact that her strength stirs something in him no soft submissive female has ever done. Will they may be able to solve both of their planets problems in time and come to terms with the passion they feel towards each other?

Taryn Demara is the leader of a human colony called Jasvar. Long ago they were hit by what they called the "Jasvar Doom Virus". It attacks the male embryos and kills most of them leaving their world mostly female. Now they need men and technology to survive . Prince Kason tro el Valley is from Keldera. They had sent a team of scientists 10 years ago to this world but they never returned. They have come to investigate and soon they to fall prey to the Jasvar woman lol with a change in Taryn plans they have a new plan had have to find a way to get what they both want even if there are others who do not things to work. Wow this was a fantastic story with twist and turns and an amazing plotline. Fantastic characters and spice round out this story to be one of the best ones I have read in a long time! I just couldn't put it down Syfy fans this was truly out of this world. Don't miss it. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

Doing your best to survive Taryn Demare is the leader of a human low tech colony planet. But a virus on the planet has been killing off males in the womb. The only reason they haven’t died off yet is they capture aliens that come to the planet to bring in new blood. But it’s been eight years since the last ship came. Something must change and a cure would be nice. The ECA or Earth Coalition hasn’t visited them in over a hundred years or more. The Kelderan planet needs to find another planet to colonize due to over population. The plant Jasver may be a possibility but due to the last expedition sent disappeared ten years ago, most believe a monster lives on the planet or that it’s cursed. Prince General Kason doesn’t believe either and agrees to go down with the first group to check it out. Just because the planet is low tech and mostly woman, doesn’t mean they can’t bring down a group of warrior men. This is an awesome first book of a new series. It’s a self-contained story yet will lead into more books. I highly recommend this well written and very entertaining story, that is action packed with some love along the way.

Welcome to a brave new world, one like you'd never imagine. Donovan combines vivid world building with an intricate yet exciting plot to create a whole that held me captive from cover to cover. Her vibrant descriptions bring both planets along with the space ship to life in such a picturesque manner that I felt as if I were actually there alongside the characters. At the same time, the plot kept me on my toes, being both sizzling hot and endlessly exciting. The vividly lifelike characters really draw you in. The main characters definitely held my attention the most. I loved getting to know them on so many different levels. On top of that, the supporting cast of characters were just as much fun to get to know. The myriad of personalities that we meet were fantastic. I love how Donovan not only develops individual characters but also entire races, right down to the most intricate detail, without taking away your ability to imagine and develop them in your mind. This was a hot and exciting story that definitely has set this series off on the right foot. I'm counting down the days for the next installment because I can't wait to see what happens next. Please note that I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this novel.

Ms. Donovan has given us another world that is as captivating as her dragon worlds. She is a master at creating characters with strength, humor, and passion. Now in space, we find new worlds with characters we love and can't wait to learn more about. Female space warrior, Taryn, is also the leader of her small planet with limited technology, as planned when Earth colonized Jasvar. They didn't realize they had doomed them when a virus destroys all male children in the womb. Taryn will do what she has to do and has done to repopulate their planet. That includes luring spaceships and tempting the personal to stay. Little did Prince Kason of Kalderan, an esteemed general, know what he was getting into when he began a mission to find out what happened to some of his missing people from space missions, and to find another planet to lessen his crowded planet. A patriarchal society, he was not prepared for Taryn, or how attracted they were to each other. There are two planets with characters and societal rules that do not jive. Will this couple be able to come together politically to provide for the needs of both planets? Will they be able to get past their differences to help their people and fight their enemies? During it all, will their differences keep them apart or draw them together? This is my honest review of this advance reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
