And most importantly, find out how to store your ingredients properly to keep them as fresh as possible, which in turn helps produce fabulous cookies.
Another integral part of baking cookies is having the right equipment, and The Cookie Bible helps sort through the seemingly endless choices of bowls, spatulas, spoons, whisks and baking pans available today. If you were wondering whether to buy nonstick cookie sheets or if you need an electric mixer, you'll find the answers to your questions right here. You don't need a lot of equipment to bake great cookies, but knowing which tool works best for each task certainly makes it easier (and more enjoyable).
When the questions about ingredients and equipment have been answered, the baking can begin! I love to bake and so I love this book. It includes new recipes that I've never seen before as well as standard that have been around for years (think of those recipes that are printed in ads or on the back of chocolate chip packages). Unfortunately not every recipe has an illustrated photo. I especially enjoyed the adorable cookies for kids section. And the book justified the 5$ I spent on it (on sale at Borders) the very first time I made the lemon bars.
I flipped through this book and it seems great. I love that there is a picture of every baked goodie. However, I found it odd that many of the recipes called for using shortening or butter flavored shortening rather than butter. Usually when I bake and follow recipes, I'm always using butter or a combination of butter & shortening.
I am a filipina novice at baking and now residing in the Land of Milk and Honey, MidWest. I have started my self study about this book in the first few pages and its really good book I easily understood all the explanations and Im eagerly waiting for my first cookie recipe product in the coming days and plan to sell my first cookie products in the store of my husband in the coming months, hence I bought this book. I scouted this book here at Barnes and Noble site and since the reviews are very good, one that promises to teach the would be bakers the ABCs of baking, like me who is a novice at baking, hence I bought this book right away. no second thoughts...And by the way, I will treasure all these choice books I bought theyre truly a rare find indeed !!!.... To the writer of this book..you made a (good) job well done, congratulations!!! and MABUHAY!!!!
When it comes to baking, everyone needs good cookie receipes, and this book lives up to its ambitious name. The highlights are large photos of every cookie, easy to read recipes, basic ingredients, and an introduction discussing baking in general and how to avoid cookie pitfalls. All of the cookies I've made from this book have been spectacular, and the choices are endless. From regular cookies, to bars, to no-bakes to holiday selections, you will never lack for delicious treats and your friends will love you. Go ahead, buy the cookie bible. On top of everything else, its as cheap as cookbooks come. Enjoy
I received The Cookie Bible as a christmas gift. It offers a wonderful variety of cookie recipes with easy to follow instructions. The info section in the beginning of the book regarding various ingredients and storage is great for someone like me who is not that experienced. I especially like that these cookies don't consider calories - the recipes call for butter, sugar, eggs, chocolate, etc. Everyone has loved the cookies I've made so far!
