The HIGH Cost of Kindness E. M. Munsch's second Dash Hammond novel shows that even if you're considered a hometown hero that the accolade doesn't amount to a hill of designer coffee beans if a murder weapon has your initials on it...and probably your fingerprints as well. Colonel Dash Hammond has a very full To Do List in THE COST OF KINDNESS: damsel rescuing, sort out a confusing love life, there's that murder rap to dodge, and bouts with PTSD always top the bill. Fortunately, he has friends with backgrounds and professions to back him up. In fact, I liked his ex-Army buddies quite a lot and hope they become a regular feature as Munsch adds further volumes to the series. The lesson learned here might just be "Beware of High School Reunions." They certainly dump complications in Dash Hammond's life -- ones he could do without.
