Further praise for The Counterfeit Mistress:
"Madeline Hunter uses a popular Regency spy angle to intriguing effect, keeping readers—and Kendale—guessing as to Marielle’s true intentions, while creating a sizzling frame of sexual tension through Kendale and Marielle’s seductive dance of truth, daring and consequences. A smooth, sexy and sophisticated spy-themed Regency romance." —Kirkus Reviews

I always enjoy books from Madeline Hunter, and this was no exception. This book was about the developing romance between Viscount Kendale and French emigree, Marielle Lyon. It also contained several intriguing subplots. There is even the question of whether Marielle is actually a French spy. The Viscount is a former soldier who gave up the military life to assume the title after his brother's death. However, he actually is still a military man an at heart. The character development and plots were excellent, and the book was moderately steamy. I'd defintely recommend this to fans of historical romance.

Enjoyed this series very much and the way this last book brought it all together. Southwaite, Ambury and Kendale were hilarious in several parts in their three-way dialogue especially where they pretend that Kendale isn't in the room. I think MH smoothed the rough edges of Kendale's character beautifully. The ladies in this series were charming and realistic. Will most likely read the whole of it again one day. LORRAINE

The romance is this historical book is lovely. This independent woman really puts the famous earl in his place and makes him "eat crow." Like he told his friend, he had to seduce her and then woo her for months before she finally would marry him. One chapter is absolutely hilarious with "misconceptions" on the earl's part. Madeline Hunter is a great writer.

Really enjoyed the last book in this series, couldnt wait for this one, good characters, complex storyline, slow at the outset, but better in the second half. I enjoyed it and will definitely get the next book.
