Children's Literature - Margaret Orto
Here is a delightful story in rhyming verse about a cow who longs to jump over the moon, made available to a new generation of beginning readers. Brownie the Cow thinks it would be fun to jump over the moon. Her friends try to discourage her, explaining that she will go "bump" rather than "jump" if she tries such a feat. She tries a few times, anyway. Finally, her friend Raccoon helps her find a way to become the cow that jumped over the moon. Children will enjoy figuring out how the cow accomplishes her goal. Stasiak's charming illustrations are a wonderful complement to Hillert's skillful verse, which uses just 124 words. This new edition, part of the "Beginning-to-Read" series, offers an instructional note as well as a word list and activities that will help new readers practice and strengthen reading skills.
