There is something elemental shared among artists and crafters, regardless of chosen medium: creative energy. Crafters dabble, collaborate, muse, and make, all in their own way and on their own timeline. For all crafts, there are established techniques to follow but wild, innumerable ways to experiment, using the basics to launch crafters to new heights. Crafter’s Devotional can aid that launch. Each day of the year is given its own focus, on which the reader will find a daily dose of craft content that inspires, instructs, and illuminates.

I love this book! It is actualy exactly what I neede to get the creative spark going. Many different types of arts and crafts ideas - 365! Great jumping off points to develop. It does show some basic techniques but it does not show you everything which is fine. As a said, a good starting point.

Ever have one of those days when you feel paralized by that blank piece of paper? Pick up this book and get motivated! I was a little thrown off at first by it's organization, but became a fan after I adopted a random "pick a page" method.

The Crafter's Devotional is a day-book with entries for each day of the year. However, no entry is specific to a date, only to a day of the week. Every Monday the author writes about keeping a journal. Tuesday, it's about recycling, reusing, or reviving. Wednesday is devoted to collection, stash, and materials. Thursday is personal history day. Friday explores non-craft inspiration. Weekend entries give examples of collaboration, gathering, and experimentation.Over 100 contributors are highlighted throughout the book. After leafing through the pages, I think that I would use this book as a source of inspiration for weekly Artist Dates as set forth in Julia Cameron's book The Artist's WayBarbara R. Call uses fabric, paper, fiber, mixed media, and beading crafts to inspire the reader to stretch her imagination for a more creative life.
