About the Author
After 26 years in the corporate world, Julie left it all behind to pursue her creative calling. She began a quest to change her life, and to find and understand her own path for creative and spiritual growth. "I had to dive deep. I had to evaluate my long-held beliefs and perspectives. And I had to face my inner dragons and build my spiritual resilience."
Along the way, Julie learned that living a creative life means more than just expressing your creativity-it also means responding creatively to life's challenges.
The Creative Heroine's Path emerged from her experience. By looking at the creative process as a story, she illuminated the five phases in the creative flow. She learned to co-create in and from her life more consciously, because, she discovered, what we believe, we create.
Creative expression has always been an essential part of Julie's life. She has explored her creativity through writing, painting, drawing, photography, collage, printmaking, playing the piano, and singing.
Julie is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), and she has a certificate in Business Mastery from Inspired on Demand. She has a BA in English from Earlham College, and a MA in English from Wright State University.
Julie loves to write, paint, hike, read, take photos, travel, and ponder the mysteries of the universe. She lives in Colorado with her husband and a very spoiled Boykin Spaniel.

I love the Creative Heroine’s Path! Julie Baldwin‘s gentle and clear guidance has helped me shed light on talents and creative desires long hidden by my daily grind. This book is exactly what I needed to pull away from all the screens in my life, and set a new course. Julie’s personal story and encouraging tone spoke to my heart and I love her very thoughtful and unique exercises that helped me clarify my vision and find more value in my own gifts. I will be returning to this book again and again to remind my ‘inner dragons’ that I am following my own creative path.
This is an insightful work that is both inspirational and practical, a rare combination. Don't put off your own best future - this book will really get you moving!
This is an excellent book for a jumpstart when you’re stalled creatively. Julie Baldwin writes with great understanding and compassion about the various challenges on the Creative Heroine’s Path. She draws from her own experiences, recommending concrete steps to help you identify what phase you’re in and how to move forward. Highly recommended.
I Love this book about how to unleash every person’s creativity. And not only in art, but in how we live our lives! It is so well written with much wisdom and insight and many thought-provokingly good questions for the reader to explore. Because it’s also a guide to growth and self-discovery. The combination of wise insights and clear concise writing make it a delight to read. I found it helpful, hopeful, and inspiring. Though I am male, I appreciate this “yin” path in today’s “yang-heavy” world. Julie’s courageous sharing of her personal story all along the way makes the “theory” engagingly personal. One of many valuable ideas I have already adopted is the author’s encouragement to take “imperfect action!” This frees me from the roadblock of perfectionism from the start. The hard-earned wisdom of Julie’s adventure in self-discovery is informed by her skills as a life coach. Her inspiring story is also a How-to Road-map to a richer life. Incorporating the practical, the inspirational, and maybe even the mystical, this book can make a difference in your life.
This is a beautiful and inspiring book about how to get in touch with and act on what truly matters to you. Inspired by Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey, The Heroine's Creative Path is a reminder that you can live a creative life regardless of your job (or your gender). Julie Baldwin leads you through the wilderness of busyness, resistance, and fear with warmth and a brightly shining light to help you find your path. Helpful advice and exercises seem to appear just when you need them, whether you are flipping open a page to see what leaps out or you're reading the book from start to finish. I really appreciated her advice on working with what she calls your "inner dragon" (and I loved that she distinguishes the "inner dragon" from what some creatives call their "inner editor"). Julie shares some of her personal challenges and inspirations, which I found heartening and empowering. I will be turning to this book frequently in my creative work, and I will be ordering more copies of this book for my creative friends.
This is a book full of positivity plus more. Much more! Author Julie Baldwin offers inspirational guidelines for achieving goals toward living creatively. “A creative life is grounded in being present –– noticing, seeing deeply, and being open to your intuition,” she says as she shares her experience of coming home to herself. A wise woman, I thought as I meditated on her coaching advise for making choices and changing perspective, moving out of my comfort zone to try new approaches to everyday living, centering through ritual, finding my lodestar. I especially liked her comments about socializing with positive people and dancing with one’s muse. Yes, dancing! Playing! Digging into creativity even though it can be messy and chaotic. Baldwin inspires and also offers practical advise –– creating a space of your own, de-cluttering and decorating it in ways that inspire passion and spirituality. It’s a lovely book. It has been motivated me to examine my thoughts, my choices, my approaches to living and loving.
What a delightful read! Great inspiration on how to become your creative self in a world where life is just plain busy. Julie shares her thoughts and insights on how to add a bit of space for yourself along the path of life. She helped me to understand how important taking care of yourself can be. She walks us through our doubts and many questions with love and care. It is a story about how to de-cluttering and decorating it in ways that inspire passion and spirituality. It has been motivated me to examine my thoughts, my choices, my approaches to living and loving. Thank you Julie for your inspiration.
