Condemned to prison for falling in love with a minor that is four years younger than him, Malcolm Beers, in anger, manages to escape and devotes the rest of his unfortunate life to exacting revenge on the people that put him there. The Criminal is a modern tragedy of hatred and vengeance and what they can do to a person. It is also a love story about the dangers of obsessive passion. It is a standalone rhymed poem play written in iambic tetrameter.
