This wonderful book creates fascinating dichotomies. It is, in part, about growing old, but the poet maintains throughout her work and sly pleasure and cheerfulness about the simple joys of living. Shie is also a student of the great Mystery, and the means for approaching the Mystery is through cats and through nature. I don't know any writer who understands and appreciates cats better, so if you are a cat lover you will love this book. We're all of us, sooner or later, going to be up there in years. Janet McCann writes beautiful sweet wisdom on how to appreciate life at the slower end. The poems are about home and travel, work and play, the people she loves, the casino of living, and always, cats. Read for pleasure and read to be enlightened.
