Overview

The true life story of an epic 4200 mile bicycle journey across America.

Three friends who are anything but elite riders, decide to embark on a journey that will take them across the country, even though it is their very first touring trip. They are met with voracious winds, seemingly perpetual rains, the most difficult climbs they have ever faced, bike malfunctions, and physical ailments, among other challenges. Yet they never lose their resolve, the ability to laugh, poke fun at each other, or make the best of a challenging situation.
A tale of endurance and tenacity, of camaraderie and laughter, of success in the face of hardship.

If you have ever thought of making an epic bike trip, you will really enjoy this book. There is no international intrigue or sweeping love story here, and there shouldn't be. This book puts you inside the heads of a group of friends on a cross-country bicycle trip as they experience the majestic, the mundane, the grueling and all the other facets of such a trip. And it wraps it all in the warmth and humor that only a group of very close friends can share. Maybe not for everyone, but as a sometimes cyclist who loves the idea of maybe, someday doing a cross-country trip, I thoroughly enjoyed being let inside on this one.
