After the death of her father, Eliza moves to a new town and realizes that her attempts to be popular are being thwarted by her growing closeness with an eccentric neighbor, Dierdre. This book is a great book about a girl who thinks being popular is everything. She soon finds that even the girl next door who is a little annoying, a little strange, and very poor can be the friend of a lifetime. This story tells a great view of a child's eye view on life in a small country town.
