The Curse by Mandy Baker is not your usual love story, nor is it your usual paranormal. It is a delightful blend of both. They story is about a man that is searching for his wife when she disappears. She did not just take off; she literally disappeared along with everyone else that was searching the area for an artifact. Alex does not give up on finding her. Will there love be enough to conquer the curse that is holding his wife? I was not sure about this book at first. Once I started reading it though I could not put it down. You can feel Alex’s emotions as he searches for Liz. This story will have you at the edge of your seat waiting to see how it will turn out. I could see this story quickly becoming a series. I cannot wait to see what Mandy Baker has up her sleeves for this couple. 4 stars**** all of the way.
* I received a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. * This book had a wonderful storyline and plot and I felt that it really had the potential to be a great 5 star read, however, I felt that certain aspects of the story got lost along the way and could have used more detail. This book was very original and I thought that it was really interesting, especially the fact that the curse dated back to Liz's grandparents, however, the author didn't go into great details about the curse and what the curse meant. I felt like there needed to be more to the actual curse than the memories that Alex relived before finding Liz. I think that Mandy Baker has a lot of potential with this series and that adventure/mystery/romance seekers will enjoy this quick and easy read. I just think there needs to be a bit more development into the actual curse and the gifts that Liz has. The back story of the curse seems vital and perhaps we will see more of it the next book. I feel that in order to really establish a connection with the characters as well as to thoroughly enjoy the adventure playing out there needed to be a few less missing pieces. This story is about Liz and Alex and if you were to dismantle the story line down to its basic foundation you would see that it’s really about the genuine love that they share for each other; the love that ultimately saves them both. The characters were very well detailed in how they met, how their relationship came to be and how they both loved one another, this was clear, it was just the purpose of the curse that was not. I also enjoyed learning about Bob, but didn't feel that he had a vital role in the story, that he was just there....I would have liked to have learned more about him and his role in the curse. Overall, this is a good read, just needs a few more details. It is a quick one or two day read, so make sure you have plenty of time before starting as you will lose track of time as you read right through it. I am looking forward to the next book to see how the details pan out as well as to see where the author takes the story next. ***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official.***
Alex is a devoted husband, who will do anything to find his wife Liz. Throughout the book, when Alex was looking for Liz. There were flashbacks, about how they met, how he propose (which was so sweet). Alex, didn’t want to go to California for this treasure hunt, but since Liz was excited to go, of course Alex would follow his wife anywhere. During their dig in California, something goes wrong, people who were there, including Liz, went missing! Totally disappeared. Month after month, Alex is going through the clues, to find Liz. But really there is not much to go on. With a help of a friend, Alex travels back to California, for their final search! I really like that there were different POV’s, because it was nice to see how the guy fell in love with the girl. Mandy Baker, did a great job at writing this story! It didn’t feel like I was reading a book, it felt like there was a move playing in my head. I think if I knew how nice male archeologists, I might have changed my major in college! Hahaha Again Mandy, great book!!! I am shocked that this your first book, because it felt like you have been writing for years!
