In a world where marriage is forbidden, sex is only granted to male warriors, and the outer realm is full of murderous creatures, Arianna fights to protect the life of her only living relative, her brother.

Tardon, an elite warrior, is granted anything he desires by the Elders, but finds little joy in the voluptuous women presented to him. Born for the bloodlust found only in battle, complicated emotions emerge when he discovers his equal in the alluring warrior, Arianna.

Charged by the Elders with saving the castle from attack, Tardon and Arianna risk the curse when they traverse the vast outer realm to retrieve serum from the Tree of Life. If successful, the Elders have promised Tardon the right to marry and Arianna the cure for her brother's death fever. Will their love carry them through or will the discovery of a great deception be their ultimate demise?

3.5 Stars An enticing read. This book has a great plot foundation, with a lot of twists. I must say I never would have guessed how it ended. However, the connection to the characters that is a must for me was lacking. I was unable to connect to the characters like I had expected from the blurb. Don't get me wrong, it is a great read, but it can benefit from a stronger connection to the characters. Especially Tardon and Arianna.

I enjoyed reading about a strong woman character. Arianna keep me hooked the things this poor girl goes though for her love for family and love for Tardon keep me wanting more. I would recommend this book and can't wait to read more from this series.

I received this as part of the Goodreads group Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Fanatics: Read to Review giveaway. Overall I liked this book, it started out with a lot of promise and I enjoyed the ending, but it just seemed that the promise of a kick butt female warrior just never really happened. Arianna spent ninety percent of the story either being wounded or captured. It just seemed unrealistic especially since she was supposed to be equal to Tardon in warrior abilities. That said, all in all, I did enjoy the story, especially the twist regarding the curse. I think the characters were all fairly well written and if there are more in this series (perhaps Saldor's story) I will check them out.

I have to say right off that I REALLY enjoyed it. The warrior culture with the forbidden areas drew me in quickly and the story twists kept me hooked. The inequality between the male and female warriors was an interesting tact. Tardon and Arianna seem doomed from the start, love is forbidden and yet they have managed to fall head on into it. Together they have to face huge issues .....What laws would you break to protect family and those you love? What would you sacrifice for the people you love? How far would you go to protect your people from the evils both in and out of the castle? And most importantly, how would react to finding out things are not what you have always believed they were? They have great chemistry and it was intersting to work together and at times against each other. My only complaint about Arianna was that she was very quick to distrust her instincts and Tardons words and actions, while quickly trusting the word of someone she hardly knew about Tardons actions and motives. That being said, I would recommend this book to Fantasy lovers who also enjoy a good romance.

I just finished reading The Curse of Gremdon and thoroughly enjoyed the story. The chemistry between Arianna and Tardon hooked me from the beginning. I sensed a twist coming in the story and was pleasantly surprised when it came, because it was not what I expected. If you like fantasies with a strong heroine, a mouth-watering hero, and surprising plot twists, I highly encourage you to read this book!

Action Packed Sci-Fi / Fantasy Romance. Rating 4.5 Arianna is the only female warrior but she's one of the best, if not the best. Tardon is an Elite Warrior who is in love with Arianna and he is unaware that she also has feeling for him. However, their love is forbidden. They are not allowed to have any kind of relationship. The Elders, who rule over the people, believe that for a female warrior to engage in sexual activity, it would diminish their fighting abilities so such an act is punishable by death. When Arianna's younger brother, Mardel, comes down with the death fever, it throws her and Tardon closer together. The Elders, were they to know that Mardel had the fever, would immediately sentence him to death. But with the help of a healer and Saldor, an Elder advisor, they are able to keep the Elders from knowing what plagues Mardel. Eventually Arianna and Tardon are charged with going into the outer realm, where the Cursed (grotesque monster-like creatures) reside, to gather and bring back the healing sap from the Tree of Life. A journey which no one has ever returned from. Okay, I just have to say WOW! This story is action packed from start to finish. There is a lot of fighting in it, as you might expect with the story revolving around two of the best Warriors in Gremdon. Whether it be fight training in the Pit, fighting against a Cursed attack, defending oneself from those who serve the Elders and control the people through magic. Just when you think Arianna and/or Tardon can relax for a moment, something else happens. As you can tell by the cover, which might I add fits perfectly with the story, an amulet is an integral part of the story. Everyone wears them. Apparently the amulets contain some of the sap from the Tree of Life and is used for protection. But when Arianna's is cracked during a fight, she begins having visions which she thinks are just dreams ... until they become a reality. There are a lot of characters involved in this story. Aside from Arianna and Tardon, you have Saldor who, as I mentioned previously, is an Elder advisor. Tardon feels that Saldor is after Arianna's affections and to be honest, despite him assuring her that he doesn't have those kinds of feeling for her, I still wondered if he had feelings for her, more than what he claimed. I liked the interaction between him and Arianna. He really does care for her. That, of course, created a conflict between Tardon and Saldor. Kendar is Tardon's servant boy who also wishes to be a warrior. I liked him because even though he's just a servant, he's honest with Tardon, even when it has to do with Arianna. And naturally I liked the main characters, Tardon and Arianna. Arianna is determined and strong and she doesn't give up. She does whatever she thinks is necessary to help everyone, not just those that she loves. Tardon is very much the alpha male character. Strong, take charge, caring, protective and at times over-protective and bossy when it comes to Arianna's safety. Overall I felt this story was very intense, suspenseful, action packed, and at times romantic. And although by the time I was finished reading it I was wondering whether Ciara would write a sequel, it really isn't necessary. I felt that the story wrapped up nicely. That's not to say that another story couldn't be written. ;) I look forward to reading Ciara's other books at some point! **I received a copy of the book from the author for a giveaway win.**

My Thoughts I knew I was going to enjoy this book I just did not realize how much. I absolutely LOVED IT !!!! Ciara has created a fresh and unique story that will leave you well on the edge of your seat. This story is full of sensual passion and adventure. A love story like no other. Are journey is with Arianna a fierce warrior living in a kingdom where she believes that they are there to be protected from the people (well what the elders of the kingdom call them the Cursed) of Gremdon. It is not until Arianna’s brother Mardel took ill with what they call the death fever. That things start to unravel and Arianna learns the truth about the elders. Along this journey Arianna finds love with Tardon but it is a long journey they both must travel in order to be with each other. Ciara has created characters with depth and a world that is scary and beautiful at the same time. And her description is fantastic. At one point in the book her description was so good I had the heebee jeebeez it was like the rats from the dungeon where eating at me. It is easy to say that this book is ah~may~zing and I pray that this will be a series. One kingdom was brought back into the light and out from under the spell of the elders but there are many more kingdoms that need saved.

The premise for the book was very interesting, and the blurb immediately captured my interest, it conjured up this image of a hot love affair, danger and fantasy - unfortunately it didn't quite deliver for me. I do love fantasy as a genre as well as romance, well duh right? ;) But while this book was good and I enjoyed most of it for me it lacked in the depth of moving the story forward. Don't get me wrong it was an active book, but while reading it I felt little unattached to the couple. It was a good book, well worth the read - but personally it was lacking little bit. Of course I've seen this book get plenty 4 and 5 star reviews so possibly it could be just me. ;) I liked the characters. Tardon being the strong warrior, proud and little uptight, and Arianna being a warrior herself no maiden to be rescued, she fought aside Tardon like one of the men. It was their love affair that I liked most about the book, their forbidden desire to be together, their near death sentence because of it and then their near exile because of it to a world inhabited by gruesome cursed creature who once were men like them. You'll like this if... you like your romance to have an element of fantasy and danger, you want your hero a strapping warrior and your heroine a valiant match to him in body, mind and spirit!

This is a great story. I LOVE TARDON! Well, all the characters, actually. They are deep and intriguing. The world Ciara Knight has created is extraordinary and very well developed. The twists and turns kept me intrigued the entire book. The love story between these two is so sweet and hot all rolled up into amazing. Nicely done, Ciara Knight!

Okay, I have to admit that I'm not a huge fantasy fan. Most of the time the totally displaced worlds and endless descriptions drive me crazy as a reader. But...that was just absolutely not the case with this book. The beginning hooked me so totally and unequivocally that I just had to keep reading. I mean, come on, big tough (made me think of Conan the Barbarian) hottie, Tardon in a sword fight with a female warrior that was his match---or so she thought--was just a total turn on. I enjoyed the description laced into the action and the heat in the pull of battle. The desperate love in this romance totally kept me spell bound and when you get to the twist... oh, holy cow--I so did not see that twist. All in all, this was a great read and I devoured it in two sittings. I'd love to read more fantasy romances like this. Please send me more. :)

Ciara Knight has a thrilling story to tell, filled with gladiator-type warriors and a society forbidden to love. I was hooked from the beginning and the surprising twists kept me reading long into the night without putting it down. The author gives the reader a very satisfying conclusion as well, but still hoping for a sequel!
