Overview

The Dark Tower Hardcover Gift Collection (Dark Tower Series) by Stephen King, Ned Dameron, Phil Hale, Michael Whelan

These new editions of The Gunslinger and The Drawing of the Three along with The Waste Lands are available in this special Gift Set with a single slipcase stamped with two colors of foil.

Stephen King has authorized this limited reprinting of the first two books in the Dark Tower series, The Gunslinger and The Drawing of the Three, to enable us to match them with our remaining copies of the the First Hardcover Edition of The Darktower III: The Wastelands. The Gunslinger is the third hardcover printing (The first two were in 1982 and 1984) while The Drawing of the Three is a new edition (original printing was in 1987) as Phil Hale has painted ten brand new oil paintings for this special edition. He was one of the artists who illustrated our edition of The Talisman and was also chosen by Stephen King to illustrate the first edition of his novel Insomnia, published by Mark Ziesing. Phil was 23 when he illustrated this book eleven years ago and has done another incredible job for this new edition.

The slipcase, which holds all three books, is bound in black leatherette and stamped on the spine in silver and maroon. The slipcases are stamped with all three titles and are suitable for housing the First Editions of these books.

Roland of Gilead, the Last Gunslinger, in a world that has 'moved on' is to the 'Dark Tower' series what Frodo is to the 'Lord of the Ring's.' More terrifying, is the fact that King has written within each epic tale possible highlights from our own disastrous future. Often times, Roland is a pitiful character one who shows little compassion for others but whom only knows one ideal: his endless quest for The Tower and its meaning. King weaves Roland into a remarkably complex character, all the while a seemingly simple-minded, cold-blooded killer. A man who has become a product of the world in which he comes from and the man to which he may have to become in order to save a hopelessly lost world. His quest for the Tower brings forth feelings within of hate, anger, regret, shame, disbelief, love and compassion, all of which seem foreign to our Protagonist. Roland's struggles within become as important to the story as his search for the Tower itself. For, through Roland we see our inevitable, pitiful selves yet through hopeful, redeeming eyes. Possibly, one of the greatest tales to have ever been told in both the 20th and 21st centuries.

In this series, King sits down behind his desk and summons a timeless and powerfull story from the deep within his infinite imagination. King will be remembered for many of his literary masterpieces but this series will eventually immortalize his legacy. I also recommend anything else this talented writer has put on paper. Buy King, and you will find your money well spent. Tak.

Kings masterpiece is everything you can hope for. His charecters are vivid and believable if not a bit out there. The tale however is of epic proportions and is not to be missed. As a reader of all books i highly recomend this to anyone looking for a little entertainment on your bookshelf. However it seems unwise to buy an unfinished box set!!!! Have fun see you in the field at the end of the beam.

I stumbled upon this series several years ago, and continue to wait with angonizing anticipation for the next and the next. I am completely captivated and spellbound, and surely hope SK manages to get on with this series before either he or I leave this earth.

Steven King is a master at tantalizing the dark Tower enthusiast. Read the Dark Tower series and then start re-reading some of the other King books printed lately. You will find Dark Tower related stuff in Hearts in Atlantis, the Talisman, and Black House as well. I am sure that as I read further, Dark Tower will invade much of Steven King's wonderful books. Roland and his compadres are contagious. Be ware!

Stephen King outdid himself when he wrote these books. He not only proved himself to be the most imaginative writer today, but also throws in some twists that show us a side of himself he has not shown us before.

Lose yourself in the fantasy 'Mid-World' of Roland and his ka-tet. This unfinished series can only be compared to the Lord of the Rings when you are talking about a series of books. I cant recommend these books in particular enough. King should give a moneyback guarantee that you will be captured by them.

I love SK, he is such a prolific writer. You can really feel his message and what an IMAGINATION. Honestly his books are wonderful. If you haven't read The Stand or IT you haven't read his best works. The Dark Tower series is awesome but it has nothing on these two books.

These novels are without a doubt the most in depth, exciting, imagination bending set of books that have ever graced the earth. If you find yourself reading any one of them, you will find yourself inside of Mid World, waiting for Roland's next move, searching for the Rose, or laughing at one of Eddie's ridiculous comments. I have burnt out 3 copies of each book, reading them over and over again, always finding new meanings and places. If you think you have read a good book, or heard a great campfire story, then try these books on for size.

The Dark Tower Series is by far King's greatest series as yet unfinished. As long as the dark tower remains undiscoverd by Roland and his Ka-tet so shall I stay a member of that Ka-tet in spirit and mind as a faithful reader to the end. Thanks to Mr.King and his unbeleivable talent.

The Gunslinger series is one undoubtably one of King's best 'non-horror' works. However, personal experience has been that to truely enjoy the series one must read them not back to back, but as they're published. Starting many years ago with The Dark Tower and the introduction of Roland...then suddenly stumbling on The Drawing of the Three...CLASSIC KING STORYTELLING!...then back to The Wastelands.... Alas, I have not read Vol. 4...but will gather it up shortly. Then, on to my favorite way of reading King...over and over, going back to old favorites like an old friend.

I have been an avid King fan since the 1970's and to me this set and The Stand are the best he has ever done and I have read each book several times. I like the good verses evil and the ending of each book in the series makes you anxious for the next. I look forward anxiously for V; when will it be released?

This book series cannot be defined by one word like 'science fiction' or 'horror' because it embodies the essence that all books have (or hope to achieve). I was not to sure of Stephen King before reading this book; I though he was just a horror king, oh how I was so wrong. I recommend this series to all.

I read Dark Tower 4 first, not meaning to. I saw it on sale and bought it as I love Mr.Kings writing. After I finished it I was on a quest to find the first three, which I found @bn,com,I read them all voraciously,I am now re-reading Wizard&Glass.Where is number v? I am waiting with bated breath! Come on Mr King we are waiting to see if Roland Jake Susanna and Eddie find the Dark Tower and what will the end result be?Or won't we know?

This is story telling never to be beaten. And King.... I wish you'd give up all your other projects and get the guys to the Dark Tower.

I was bored, nothing but books to read. I like horror, suspense novels. I will definitely read the rest of this series as it comes out.

King has fashioned a modern day masterpiece with his series that is the Dark Tower. I was worried that his accident would prevent him from finishing the series. I was overjoyed to hear that that was not the case. I can't wait for the fifth book in the series. The lives of Roland, Jake and the others keep the reader enthralled as they follow the Man in Black and others from Roland's mysterious past as a Gunslinger in a world where the Gunslingers were what every young person dreamed of being when they grew up. The Dark Tower series is an epic quest that pits a noble few against the gathered forces of evil to save us all.

I have read everthing King has written, and this is by far his best contribution. I long for the next book, and I am only disappointed when I get to the end (it's over already). He keeps me wanting more!

I have read the entire series, and can honestly say that these are the best books that I have read. Stephen King has created a wonderful world that I just can't put down. Read it and find out for yourself. I would recommend it to anyone!

These books totally captivated me! If you buy these books you will not be disapointed. SK really nailed it with these books, and mostly all of his other stories tie into Roland and his quest for the Dark Tower. Do not be deprived any longer! Buy these books today!
