The three girls who started it all are back. The trio has settled into their seperate high school lives, but have kept their friendship together and even stronger in the second yummy book in this utterly delish series by Melissa Kantor. Victoria: The hopeless romantic. Jack: The irresistible songwriter... but is he writing off Victoria? Is finally fitting in at Morningside, with her fun friends Georgia and Maeve, and her loving boyfriend, Jack. She loves being with him... and his friends? Lately all Jack wants to think about are his friends and music, a.k.a. everthing Victoria hates. Can she find her voice and tell him how she feels, or will the once-happy couple go seperate ways angrily? Natalya: The overachiever. Colin: The perfect match, if only the game were less complicated. Is regretting choosing Colin "cool" sister Morgan Prewitt over her "dorky" brother Colin, especially since Morgan now wants nothing to do with her. Then everything comes together for Nat. Colin is the perfect match in more ways than one, and Natalya has a great friend, Jordyn and feels like she's becoming closer with fellow bio-lover Alison. When things fall apart will Nat be able to pull them together again, or will she simply have to accept life as it is and move on? Jane: The drama queen. Simon: The greek god... of mixed signals. Is sick of being the only person she knows who is head-over-heels in love. Until she gets back to acting, this time with an new hot, perfect, and classy guy at her side. Unfortunately, the most annoying boy EVER is directing and totally degrading her skills. Lately, the only good thing in her life is Simon, who makes her feel special and gorgeous. She's convinced he's the greek god to her goddess... until he breaks news that changes everything. Is Jane just destined for failure in the love field or will she forge new friendships and turn to her Darlings as they all realize that boys come and go, but best friends are forever. Okay, reading this book? It was like eating a heavenly slice of a cloud. Ever since I read The Darlings are Forever (go read it NOW if you haven't already and get ready for divinity) I wanted, no, NEEDED to read the sequel. I had high hopes and they were TOTALLY fufilled. This is a great story about staying true to your friends, boys, and standing tall no matter what twists and turns your life takes. I would (and did) recommend it to all my friends, and to any girl ages 12-15. The book had some MINOR language (junior high), and (even though people kiss in, like, every Disney movie) a lot of kissing. Just kissing though, nothing more than that (although there were some minor mentions). It was a sweet and funny read, yet still emotional and not at all airheady like some YA books. I bawled at the opening of Nana's art gallery when Jane is distraught over missing her, and the part at the beginning with Victoria and Jack?? It totally made me say "awwww" and decide that they are the cutest, sweetest, most romantic couple EVER. The book had realistic problems, and the girls responded to problems exactly like I would have. They had feeling about things like normal people: not to over-the-top, and not emotionless. The best book EVER, and now officialy my fave. Five stars for the book, and three, wait, FIVE cheers for Melissa Kantor and her geniusness. I am a darling in LOVE with this book. ?
