This is the edited and updated version of one of my early romance novels. I've always had a soft spot for Davina and Jack's story, partly because it's set in Brighton - a town I lived in and loved. And partly because the main characters are so different from each other. Davina is dippy and full of life, while Jack is cynical and buttoned up.  Together they're explosive! I hope you enjoy their story. Happy reading! Janet x

When disgraced cop Jack Miller inherited a house, he also inherited a tenant. She's sexy, mysterious and obviously up to no good. With the police department breathing down his neck, the only way Jack can get his job back is to prove he's squeaky clean. That means getting rid of his dodgy tenant.

Davina Davenport desperately wants to be an actress. So desperate that she's trying to make a movie using 'borrowed' equipment and her rented house as a cheap location. Her plan is to post the film online, become an overnight sensation and move to Hollywood. Unfortunately things aren't going to plan. Her boss at the TV station keeps asking about the missing equipment, her cop landlord is nosing around (her and the house) and the creepy cameraman from work wants to trade sex for his film-making skills.

If the movie gets made before Davina ends up fired, in jail or in Jack's bed, it will be a miracle!

PLEASE NOTE: This book used to be called Action.

This is a contemporary romantic comedy in full order. The plot is very straightforward; it is meant to be a light, fun read and that is exactly what you get out of this book. Jack is an ex-cop who inherits a gothic-type house in southern England. Davina is the tenant currently living there. She wants to be a famous actress, so she is filming a clandestine home-made movie with the help of a wacky teenage crew, her steadfast accountant best friend, and a loony cameraman co-worker who wants her body. She doesn’t want Jack to know what she’s doing because she’s using equipment temporarily “borrowed” from the TV station where she works. Jack senses she’s doing something illegal, so he sets siege in the property’s garden to investigate, giving her a two-week deadline until he can legally inspect the inside of the house. From testing her home-baked brownies for drugs to planting a listening device in her kitchen, Jack is all set to trap her. Davina is all set to lead him astray - while ensnaring him to act in a movie scene without his knowledge and acknowledging their mutual physical attraction. The story is told from both their POVs and their conversations are full of wit, misunderstandings and silly humour. I absolutely loved both of them because you can clearly see they belong together. From their first meeting, the chemistry between them blazes and rages and it’s mayhem and laughs. This is the kind of story where you just sit back, relax, and let yourself be entertained, a laugh-out-loud light romance with no obscure plots or intricate scenarios. We get great secondary characters and a wonderful HEA. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading her other stories. Complimentary copy received by author for review.

Very funny book! Davina is a hoot right along with her best friend. Jack inherits her rental house and hilarity ensues. Great, light, funny read!

I love the author's other book - Laura's Big Break and thought I'd give this a go. It was even better. The things Jack and Davina get up to are hilarious. Davina's best friend is a roar a minute too and should get her own book. After all the angst ridden romance books I've been reading these past few years, this was a breath of fresh air. I will definitely read this author again.

This is the sort of book that you read when you need a pick me up. It's fun with a capital F. I love the writing style, it really moves along and before you know it, you're at the end of the book. Jack is fanastic, very male and very funny. And Davina is adorable yet totally nuts! It really is worth a read.

This is a crazy love story! Take Davina a wannabee actress, add Jack, an off-the-force depressed policeman, and you have the beginings of a wonderful story, Add a strong measure of chemistry and insanity, stir well until all ingredients are mixed, and you have a recipe for an enjoyable read. Thoroughly fun!
