One of the best books i have read. This book takes you on an epic journey and then leaves you breathless!
And indeed this book kept me guessing right up to the end. It had me thinking, frowning, but wide-eyed trying to figure it out. Catriona McPherson tells a mysterious tale using well-crafted characters with each their own quite complex personalities. You’ll find yourself trying to figure out why s/he’s behaving this or that way, and more often than I’m proud of I caught myself thinking “How did I not see this??”. The aspect I like most about The Day She Died (apart from the plot, of course); its characters. It’s not easy to create and live in the heads of these characters, which Catriona McPherson seems to do effortlessly. Her protagonist is emotionally scarred, traumatised by an event in the past, and have pteronophobia (fear of feathers). Another main character, Gus King, was just recently left without a wife with two kids to care for. How heavier can the baggage get?
Finished this only because I paid for it
I thought the leading lady pretty dumb. I kept reading because I needed to see what happened in the end. Plus I paid for the book.
