When Kelly Bishop and her brothers move in with a foster family in northern Virginia, it seems their lives can finally be normal again. That's until they're trapped deep within Pandora's Cave. In the cave they witness a sinister pact between a powerful businessman and the Demon world that promises to launch the greatest war in history.
The good news is the kids made a video of the entire event.
The bad news is the video may still be in the demon-infested cave and nobody believes their story.
The Demon Conspiracy is loaded with heart-pounding terror, deep mystery, and characters you will never forget. It is the only teen novel series required by the American Security Administration to post a warning about potential negative psychological effects on the reader.

A family goes caving and discovers that the cave is infested by demons. The main story is told by Kelly Bishop, an eighth grader in the family, who happens to be telepathic. The strange part begins when all of the people that come out of the cave after going in to rescue the ones that didn't get out after an earthquake, all say the same thing. "But I have much work to do. I work hard and fast.” The demon names are funny and interesting enough by themselves. Lipsludge, Klawfinger, Grund, Seven-eyes, and Tentacles. The opening statement of the story draws you in immediately with a sense of danger. The intrigue continues on a steady pace as you are sucked into this epic tale of demons and mystery. The narrator is believable and her actions are typical of an eighth grader. I held my breath as I read the scary parts and was also grossed out by the visual descriptions of other scenes. I felt anxious for the characters in this book as they escaped danger repeatedly. I could easily relate to the physical pain and anguish that the characters went through as they were tossed about by the demons. This is a great book for teenagers and adults who like scary stories or horror movies. I highly recommend that you purchase the series because the story doesn't stop with this book. Or can it? The family takes a trip to Crystal Creek Park and heads down into a cave, but things go wrong when an earthquake strikes and they are trapped deep inside. When they get out of the cave, a rescue bid is mounted to save those trapped inside, but that's when the real terror begins. Nobody believes the kids about the demons and the video may still be in the cave. It’s a race against time and demons to save the world. The Demon Conspiracy (Book 1 of The Demon Conspiracy Series) by R.L. Gemmill stars with a warning from the American Security Administration about the possible psychological effects that the story may cause some readers. The story is written with the point of view changing from chapter to chapter between characters, all of whom are incredibly well developed throughout the story. They are written in such a way that, almost immediately, you will bond with them, and form an unbreakable connection that will stay with you throughout the whole story. The writing style is incredibly visual, allowing you to play the story in your mind as you read it. I must admit to choking back a bit of laughter when the demons began speaking, but other than that, this is an intense story that will have any reader, young or old, hooked from the start. It made a refreshing change to read something quite different in the paranormal genre and I am going to read the rest of the series.
The Demon Conspiracy (Demon Conspiracy #1) by R.L. Gemmill is a book I won! Yippee me!! I won a good one with this book! It is a hoot! It is for teens/young adults but adults will like it too. I know I did. A family is going spelunking and there is an earthquake. But in the cave is a demon meeting with a demon salesman. It is funny how the demons are named. Of course there is a little suspense but not a lot. Some of the family doesn't escape and trapped with the demons. When the family does come out they are different. Then is really gets funny. Like a said, it is a hoot! Great book.
I rarely say this about a book. Flawless. I was hooked from the first sentence and that's a rarity for me. This story is not only extremely compelling but it's brilliantly visual. I teach visual writing and will be using this book as an example of solid storytelling. Surprised I couldn't stop reading and stuck in my mind, visually seeing the characters' and the demon's moods, actions, expressions, etc. as well. It's this kind of writing (tight, quick-paced, snappy dialogue, effective visuals, great characterizations) that will keep you thinking about the story and reliving it for a very long time. Outstanding job author R. L. Gemmill! Can't wait for Book 2 in this series.
