Overview

The sequel to Along Came a Demon:

I'm Tiff Banks and I talk to the violently slain. I've learned to live with that, in fact I've made a career out of it.

Ex-detective Royal Mortensen and I opened our own investigative agency, and I thought we made a good team. I felt secure in our personal relationship too, until our new clients turned up. Why did Royal take them on without consulting me, and why are they withholding information which could help solve their case? I don't think they're human, and Royal knows exactly what they are, but refuses to tell me. I think there's a lot Royal isn't telling me.

I discovered that while I looked into the disappearance of author Gia Sabato's lover, Royal investigated something far more sinister. Are the two cases connected? Does an authentic nineteenth-century journal have anything to do with either?

When the case turns ugly, so does my relationship with the one man I've come to trust. So I'll do what I do best: pound the pavement and talk to dead people. The dead are always watching, they can do nothing else. They whisper to me.

Meet the Author

Linda Welch was born in Hampshire, Engl. After moving to the States she lived in Idaho, California and New Mexico before settling in Utah. She now lives in a mountain valley, more or less halfway up the mountainside with her husband and Scottish terrier. Unlike Tiff Banks, the heroine of Linda's Whispering series of paranormal mysteries, she is not tall and white-haired and does not see dead people and/or demons. What she does see are moose, deer, raccoon, skunk, wild turkey, a huge bird population and a ridiculous amount of snow. When not writing, and depending on the season, she is usually tending to her Scotties, filling the bird feeders, futilely attacking the weeds in her garden or shoveling out after a snowstorm.

Great series! They are not 1000 pages more like 500 the pages skip 2-3 at a time. The story is seamless but you go from 525 to 527 to 530. Caught a few typos and incorrect words, but what drove me nuts was the words that wraped from the end of one sentance to the beginning of the next. If your not a nazi and can get past all that it is sooooooo worth reading. Great plot and character development and fast paced enough to keep everyone interested. I was able to sit and read it in 3 hrs, but i read a lot so dont take that as what everyone will read it at.

I love Paranormal romance and Urban Fantasy and this series covers both. This is the second book in the series and I would highly recommend reading the first one (Along Came A Demon) because it is just as good <G>. The lead alpha-male (and we all know we love them) Royal, is smexy. I also like the heroine Tif. Linda Welch has a wonderful way with words and the books are filled with humor and a great plot. You won't be disappointed!

I liked this plot somewhat better over the 1st, more mystery. Linda is developing the characters and relationships more. I only wish she had developed more about Gia and Daven, but it keeps you wanting more next time. This is just the right mix of plot elements in this type of paranormal mystery (got tired of the uber sex in one series, just toooo much for me, too bad). Yes, I bought the 3rd in the series.

I enjoyed this series so much I requested to be put on notification when the next book comes out. I am bedridden and read A LOT and found these books able to make me forget that fact

I enjoyed the first book in the series enough to get this one, and I'm glad I did. The plot was a bit convoluted, but very enjoyable. Tiff is not a trained investigator, so she doesn't always take the typical path to find answers. There were many interesting twists and turns, but almost everything got tied up in the end. The only questions that remained unanswered were ones that would unfold over the course of the series, like what are the demons exactly, and what are the Dark Cousins? The relationship between Tiff and Royal was also handled in a very satisfying way. They are not perfect and their relationship is rocky in a realistic way. But they still care about each other and are willing to work things out. I also warmed up to Royal much more in this book, he was much more sympathetic here. And yes, I'll be getting the next book in the series!

This is my new favorite character! I admire Tiff and her efforts to stay true to herself. Got the first book in the series free, bought the second one. I am not finished with it yet but felt the need to comment. I intend to follow her through the rest of the series.

Tiff had me from the first page. It's a serious, funny book. Got me hooked on the series now. LOVE them. I have trouble putting the nook down when I'm reading one of her books. Linda Welch has a way with words! Very entertaining!

Well the first book was good so I went for the second one. Big mistake. I found I could skip numerous pages for everyone I read. Detail is good in a book but there was so much detail that I would wind up with my mind wandering, only to go back 3-4-5 pages and see I didn't miss anything to the story. Certainly could of done better with about 600 less pages. Sometimes to much detail can kill a story as I found out here.
