About the Author

After 35 years of doing everything for a living except writing books, Donna McDonald finally published her first novel in March of 2011. Ten novels later, she is now living her own “happily ever after” life as a modestly successful author who gives back to the universe by doing her best to keep several Lexington, Kentucky coffee shops in business. McDonald dreams of selling her house and taking to the open road once she figures out how to do so without her children and grandchildren finding out. For the time being, she continues to live contentedly with her permanent fiancée of many years who helps her sneak away from real life as often as he can. She loves him dearly for it.

I tend to lean towards erotic & paranormal romances because they are escapes for me to be swept out of the ennui life I have these days. Want to escape and not worry about the world around you read something that stimulates more than your mind. LOL

Good charaters, good story line and very well written. The only reason I gave it four out of five stars was because not one of the conflicts in the book were resolved, but the author does tell you at the begining that this is a opening book to the series and I will buy the next!

Captain Liam Synar made a very tough decision when he saved the life of his new mate, Ania Looren, by forcing her to become a demon host - perhaps it was the wrong decision. His way of dealing with it is to not tell her and then disappear for two years (not the most noble of deeds). While he is gone, Ania realizes that something is wrong but can't quite figure out what it is. When Liam's evil brother attacks her family trying to get the demon that she hosts under his control - Liam is forced to return and face the consequences of his actions. I almost put this down about half way through. It just wasn't moving along very well for me. Then Ania and Liam found themselves forced to be together on his ship and things started to become very interesting again. While sparks didn't necessarily go flying, a nice slow burn began between the two again. However...the ending....OH MY GOD what a cliffhanger. I will have to go get the next one very very soon so that I can find out if Liam and Ania can work through their differences and let their passions out again.

Loved the book, although the beginning was a bit slow. I then got engrossed and I can recommend it. Donna is a very good writer.

I wasn't very interested in this story at the beginning. However, it quickly picked up. I loved all the characters but the two main ones were my second favorites.  I loved the interaction of Zade and Gwen best. I'm ready to read more of their story.

The family demon is a great idea for a romantic sci-fi fantasy.

I was so confused with the beginning of this book, I didn't understand what was going on, who Malachi was, why he was a spirit or demon, it was just so many things happening at once. I think this has the potential to be a great series and I'm mad that it left off the way it did. I was actually more interested in reading about Dorian and Gwen than I was about Liam and Ania, those two characters were just not popping enough for me. I wouldn't mind picking up the rest of the books in this series, maybe their characters won't be so bland in the next book, I sure can't wait to read about Dorian and Gwen! SR

The Demon of Synar is the first in a two-part story, which is part of a bigger series. In this story, we learn about Liam and Ania, Demon Master and unknowing Demon Host. Liam places his Demon within Ania to save her life, but his decisions after that leave a lot to be desired. Now it is time to face the music and admit to Ania what he has done and why. Ania shows more strength and character than Liam gave her credit for, to his detriment. Their story concludes in this book as they are finally coming to terms with what has happened, although Ania still has some tricks up her sleeve. This is a well written book that moves along at a swift pace. A few things are glossed over, and being as their world is so large, sometimes you can feel a bit lost. However, on the whole, this is a very good part one which finishes definitely leaving you wanting more. * Verified Purchase - November 2012 * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I admire authors who can create completely new storys. What an amazing mind the author must have to be able to do so, coupled with the ability to put it into words. A very good read!

I enjoyed the book, it was well written with a variety of sophisticated conflicts. At first i found it difficult to keep the characters straight, but the guide at the front of the book helped and by chapter 2 i had it all straight. I plan on getting the next one.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a science fiction fan. However, melding romance and science fiction together seemed more appealing to me. The Demon of Synar is the first science fiction romance I've ever read and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I found myself getting wrapped up in the story and bummed when it came to an end. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
