Overview

Joe is a young skinhead. He is bashed up and left for dead by a local gang. Joe's injuries leave hospital staff with no choice but to turn his life support off. Joe is a fighter and through sheer will power, manages to keep a small heartbeat and brain wave while in the mortuary and when they go to do a postmortem, they discover this feint heat beat and some minor bleeding. He is taken back up to emergency and then transferred to a sanatorium for long term care. While in a coma, Joe starts to Astral Plain, having 'Out of Body Experiences'. On his travels he is seen by a group of University Students who are studying this phenomena and they follow him, but the 'Spirit of Evil' is also there and it forces the students to kill 3 people. Suspicion is thrown onto Joe, but O'Neil does not like open and shut cases and delves further. Joe finds he can talk to his mother through her mind and with her help identifies the spirits to O'Neil, but cannot identify 'The Evil Spirit'. O'Neil has to find the evidence he needs to charge the people involved with the murders and finally finds the truth.

About the Author

I was born in Guernsey in the Channel Islands to a working class family and had a great family life and upbringing. Being from a working class family allowed me to see the world from a working class point of view and as skinheads are working class lads, I was able to relate to them. I always considered myself a skinhead and still have not hung up my boots. I was educated at the Guernsey Grammar School for Boys on a scholarship until 1965. I finished my GCE before emigrating with my family to Sydney Australia. After roaming the country for a few years I settled finally in Brisbane and Married, but after a serious car accident and 8 months hospitalization and rehabilitation, I joined the Royal Australian Air Force as an adult Apprentice Motor Mechanic and Diesel Fitter and enjoyed 25 years of military service.

I retired from the military in 2002 and after living and working in an Indigenous Community in the Northern Territory and moving about once again, finally settled in Cairns in Far Northern Queensland in 2004. The climate suited me, being tropical and warm all year round. It was here that I started to write after I was divorced in 2005 and first published a novel in 2009, although my first completed novel was in 2006. That novel was 'A Trip to Hell' book 1.

The Spirit of Joe also deals with a skinhead who has been attacked and receives serious head injuries. He is placed in an induced coma to allow his head wounds to heal slowly. While in the induced coma, he starts to 'Out of Body' or Astral Plane' and sees two men killed. At first he is suspected of the killings but Detective Inspector O'Neil digs deep and finds a group of professors and students experimenting with OBE (Out of Body Experiences) and Astral Plane. His investigations lead to the charging of 2 professors and 5 students with murder and manslaughter. This is the second book in the Detective O'Neil murder mysteries.
