This is an excellent book for a diabetic or anyone else wanting to drop a few pounds. I first borrowed this book from the public library. Then I bought it and went on the diet and brought it to show to my primary care doctor. He normally has a "Show Me" attitude. He had me come back in one month for a blood test check and he was very pleased both with the blood test results and the six pounds I lost. It is a diet that doesn't make you angry like some other diets where you feel like you're being punished. It doesn't cut out what you would like to have. I'd give that book and the effort to stick with the program 100 stars!
While the first review was obviously written by someone tied to the book here is my honest opinion. The plan is somewhat overwhelming but I hope it will be worth it. The chapters are suppossed to be done by week but you have to read several chaptets and plan your weeks before you can begin. The book also has a very annoying habit of starting a story but making you wait a full chapter to finish it. I wish there would have been a trouble shooting section, like if you are experiencing this then try changing this. Currently I have improved my glucose readings but have gained one pound.
This prescription for weight management is just what I have been looking for! By incorporating these disciplines, Dr. Hamdy has touched upon all the needs of someone with diabetes who is trying to better control their diabetes and as a bonus looses weight! The structured approach has greatly appealed to me. Thank you!
