The Dictionary of Clichesby James Rogers
The Dictionary of Cliches offers the most thorough treatment yet published of those trite but apt sayings we use all the time but rarely stop to consider. And, as the author explains in his introduction, once you have a sense of where these sayings come from, you can use them for "summing up a point or situation, easing a transition in thought, or adding a seasoning of humor to a discourse" with flair. Over 2000 entries in all.

I plan on being on an author and when I want to make sure I'm using a cliche right or wording it correctly, all I have to do is check the Dictionary of Cliches. I always keep it close by my writing station and it hardly ever goes unread when I sit down to write.
This witty book gives the definition of every catchy term "From A to Z" (P.97) It's great to have and you'll never know when you will actually ned it!!
