Gil Sivart is an artist living on the Robert E. Lee, a wheel world in L5 orbit above Earth a hundred years hence. He specializes in constructing tiny models of ships sunk in various disasters, but he sometimes does investigatory favors for people. When a beautiful redhead shows up claiming her boyfriend was murdered, at the same time somebody blows out his shop's front window, what choice does Gil have but to help her? When Gil starts lifting rocks, all manner of creepy crawlies scurry forth, children of a much nastier thing hiding in the deepest shadows.
