Overview

A man desperately seeking a do-over life, a woman willing to risk it all to save him from himself--THE DIVE is a romance-laced, intrigue-driven tale.

The Dive features two flawed, yet redeemable characters. Through the eyes and experiences of Michael Charon and Maria Pressman, the author strings a tightrope of intrigue, suspense, and romance that keeps the reader guessing from page one.

With an unpredictable combination of internal and external tension, The Dive is refreshingly realistic and psychologically penetrating. Questions of personal identity and tragedy are set against a complex backdrop of international terrorism.

I agree that this is definately not what you would classify as a romance, thankfully. For you parents, who like me, want to keep the smut out of your house, there are no inappropriate, detailed sex scenes. There is violence, but not overly so. I felt the book started out really, really slow. Perhaps the author was overly descriptive with every scene, but it picked up pace with the story line about mid point. Caution - the beginning of the sequel is included and it is quite action packed, I think more so than the first. If you read this, and I'm sure you will, you are definately going to want to purchase it as you are really left hanging..... Overall. Once I got into it, I really enjoyed it.

I just finished reading THE DIVE. It is quite intense on the surface as well as inside the heads of the two main characters, Michael Charon and Maria Pressman. The internal intensity sets this book off from anything else I've read before that fits into the Romance category. In my opinion THE DIVE just barely qualifies as a Romance. It sure isn't a Harlequin, with the cookie cutter characters and the predictable plot. Beware, no simple stuff here. THE DIVE is driven by questions of identity woven into an equally complex world. I found this book refreshingly realistic.

I'm 230 pages into this book and still can't decide if it is just a very poor romance story, or a poorly veiled diatribe of scio-political commentary, disguised as a novel. Even though the book has a bit ovr 900 pages, one would think that, after 25% of the story has gone by, one would have gotten some idea of where the characters and story line are going.

Yuk! Too much political and social angst. Can't believe these characters engage any reader.
