The Bay Area girl rock band known as the Donnas may have titled their new album The Donnas Turn 21, but don't worry: The chicks haven't matured all that much. Just as they did on their previous albums, The Donnas, American Teenage Rock 'n' Roll Machine, and Get Skintight, these women -- all of whom claim to be just past the teenage years and named Donna -- play music strongly inspired by the snarling, three-chord punk of the Ramones and Joan Jett. "I got boys all over the road/I got boys helping me unload," goes the song "40 Boys in 40 Nights," which proves, along with other punky lite-metal numbers such as "Midnight Snack," "Do You Wanna Hit It?" and "Little Boy," that the Donnas still love to sing about making out, cruising around, and being the just post-jailbait tough-girl cuties they are. Their cover of Judas Priest's "Living After Midnight" doesn't rock anywhere near as hard as Rob Halford and co.'s original, but the girls put their own laid-back charm on it. The Donnas Turn 21 doesn't break any new ground musically, but it might be the perfect album for your 14-year-old niece who is looking for a little more punch than her worn-out Britney and Christina singles have to offer.

good songs, but if you compare this album to spend the night you will see that it is not up to the same hype that spend the night had!I love the song 'play my game''cause it is so different to the album and it is the theam tune to the hit and yet v.sexy show,'surf girls'cool to rock out to!
OK, so maybe I'm being a little rough on the reviewers but I don't care. The Donnas rock! So maybe their songs are all about getting guys and sniffing aerosol containers, would people rather I listen to Britney and Christina sing about how they're dumb blondes that are sooo innocent, when all the while they're stripping at concerts and living with their boyfriends? Or how about I listen to Feminem screech about killing his wife and how much he hates homosexuals? The Donnas' music is all about having fun when most music today is digustingly depressive. These gals rock, their lyrics are funny, and they can actually PLAY INSTRUMENTS and WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC. When guys write songs about crusing for girls, no one stomps on them. But when us girls finally get a chance to cruise for guys, suddenly everyone's up in arms. Thank you, Donnas, for standing up for girls everywhere and their right to PARTY!
