The Dragon King by Candace Blevins

Book one of The Chattanooga Supernaturals, paranormal romance with claws...

Aaron Drake is nine thousand years old and one of the last remaining European were-dragons. With no female Dragons, his only hope of children lies in his grandmother's dying words. "The Swan Princesses may be the Dragons' only hope."

Sophia Siyanko is the first Swan Princess without at least one brother to take the throne in Aaron's long memory. However, her father chooses her husband when she's twelve, and sets the date for her twenty-fifth birthday. She is sequestered in her father's mansion, raised by governesses and tutors to be the future King's arm candy, and Aaron's options are limited.

But then Sophia escapes her father's compound a few weeks before her twenty-fifth birthday. Determined to escape or die trying, she comes to Aaron for help.

To protect her, he'll have to fight every Swan and Eagle on the planet, most of the Wolves, and all of Faerie.

I highly recommend reading this book. It was fabulous! There were some minor grammatical errors here and there, but nothing that took away from the book. I easily fell in love with the characters and the emotions came through perfectly. If you enjoy paranormal romance read this book/series, I will warn you the sec scenes are explicit ;)

I normally don't like a lot of sex scenes in books, but these were so ingrained into the story line and plot that I didn't find them offensive. Loved the whole book. Good characters, romance, plot and tension, and some surprises.

I really think I shall always refer to this book as the Swan Queen, because for me, it was all about Sophia coming into her own. The wonderful side-effect of her grabbing control of her life, is that it gives Aaron his wish as the Dragon King Sophia has been sheltered and locked away her entire life. This isn't an exaggeration, she actually knows very little of the world. What she does know and remember is that she can always go to Aaron. She does this, and it is from there her strength grows. She learns even those she thought she knew, kept things from her. She becomes a person she never thought she could be, but she recognizes the person she wants to become. She does all this with the support and guidance of Aaron. The one time they had a rift, my heart hurt for her. By the end of the book, who Sophia was at the beginning is nearly unrecognizable, except for her kind heart Aaron has been around forever, and that is really the truth. There are only three of his kind left, al males. He has never forgot what his grandmother told him, and he wants to make sure he is pursuing Sophia for who she is, not what she is. He does everything right for her, except for that one time. When he explains to Sophia what happened to make him the way he is, the scene, the setting, his voice, he told such a powerful tale, it hit me hard. These two are definitely perfect together, and the world that is set-up is so rich and vibrant, and the characters, all of them so interesting. If you like your paranormal with some sexy times, and a few deeply kinky characters on the side, you will love this book!
