Reviewed by Carla Trueheart for Readers' Favorite The Drone Age by author David Preznuk is a superbly written book about the history of drones, the technology behind drones, and the future of drones. Included is the use of drones in the military, the different kinds of drones in use today, and the author’s opinion on the future of drones in package delivery, law enforcement, and even as helpful tools in hazardous conditions. Also included are illustrations and charts that should help the reader, whether they are technologically adept or not, understand the basics of drone types and drone use. The reader will learn about drone use in farming, airspace restrictions concerning drones, and career opportunities that are emerging in this interesting new field. What I enjoyed most about The Drone Age was that it was a technical book about an area that intrigued me, but it did not go over my head at any point. The book is written for anyone to understand while still being informative and useful. It was particularly interesting to learn about the ways drones can aid people, after so long being feared for weapon use and the like. Drones can help with farming, so a farmer would have accurate measures of soil composition and moisture levels. They can also assist in emergencies, deliver packages, and shoot aerial shots for movies or TV. It was also a plus that author David Preznuk included illustrations of the many different kinds of drones. I had no idea there were other types! I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in this topic.
