Bobby Deitch's The Drummer In You will be a tremendous asset to the literature, and I think it will help instruct many more drummers in learning how to play some basic AND cool beats. Bravo and all best, Peter Erskine (Weather Report/Jaco Pastorius, Mike Brecker, Eddie Gomez, Steely Dan, Diana Krall, Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Gary Burton & Pat Metheny, Joni Mitchell....)

I'm a piano player my entire life and have never played the drums, even having been around drummers for many years. In just a few pages at the beginning of this book, I was able to navigate the high hat, snare and bass drum and actually felt like I could play! From a piano player's point of view, it gives extremely concise instructions and makes so much sense I don't know why everyone is not learning drums this way! I intend to give this a shot, and then I'll only need 2 additional arms to play piano and drums at the same time! GREAT instruction manual for every aspiring drummer, and I'm sure intermediate and advanced drummers can use this book for further instruction, brushups and the like. Very impressive!

Bobby Deitch's "Box Beat" system is the only really new way of teaching drum set that I've ever seen. Anybody can understand it right away, and start playing drum beats immediately. A great idea for anybody teaching beginners, or for a beginner who wants to get started without a teacher. If you can count to eight, you can do it. Luther Rix, Drummer (Broadway Show Tommy, Mamma Mia, Bette Midler, Bob Dylan)
