This is an intriguing and romantic story. It's full of drama, amusement, betrayal and interesting characters. Carver is snarky, sweet and charming. Juliet is brave, strong, stubborn and a little naive. In the midst of a battle, in which they are on opposing sides, they find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. Carver knows immediately that Juliet is the woman he wants for his wife. Juliet isn't inclined to agree, she's a soldier, a spy, not an English wife. They are separated in dramatic fashion, then meet again years later. And still have the same issues, and Carver also has a lack of trust, and Juliet thinks that Carver hates her. The end of the story is exciting and amusing. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

How can you not love a book with a heroine named Lady Blade? I have such a vivid image of her in my mind. The first few pages set the pace and tone for the entire book. Hang on because it is an intriguing and fascinating ride. Carver is the best of heroes. He is brave, charming and handsome. Juliet (Lady Blade) is smart, courageous and beautiful. Once ago lovers, both had thought they lost the other forever. Now they must come together on the same mission. The sparks file and I started hoping for a happily ever after as soon as the book started. Ms. McMaster has given us a refreshing book that is not your typical Regency romance. It kept me on the edge of my seat until The End. I have not read the earlier books in the series, but look forward to going back and doing so now. I received an ARC of this book. The choice to read and review it was all mine.

A well written tale of love, danger, spies, passion, life after Waterloo and finding a HEA. The cast of characters are engaging, realistic and believable. The plot is intriguing and compelling. Once you start reading you don't wish to stop. This story lingers long after the "end". I enjoyed Ms. McMaster's writing style, her character creation and her plots. While, this is the 4th in her "Brides of Mayfair series, it can be read as a stand alone. A must read! I received a complimentary copy, however, all opinions are my own. Carver Adams, the Duke of Hawksmoor, powerful peer, a brave war hero is coveted by the ton. A man betrayed by a woman that he can never forget try as he might. Her memory burns in his mind body and soul! But fate throws him a second chance when he comes face to face with the woman that betrayed him and his men and broke his heart. Juliet Reed half English half French she's Frances best spy. She never expected to come across the very man that had stolen her heart, made her skin tingle with passion. Teaming with her former lover will be challenging but they have a duty to their country, and many innocent lives at stake. A high paced romance that will keep you glued to every word. A fully engrossing story of treason espionage and passion between Adam and Juliet. Well written and descriptive. A charismatic Duke a feisty ex-French spy that heat up the pages will have you holding your breath. I received a complimentary copy from the author for my honest unbiased opinion .

Spies, soldiers, the Napoleon Wars, all make a great backdrop for a love story. Captain Carver Adams is a soldier and a good one. He becomes the Duke of Hawksmoor after the war. Lady Blade, Juliet Reed, half English and half French, has lost her mother to English soldiers, all she wants is revenge. What a story, there are battles, treason and an old friend from the past shows up. It makes for one amazing tale. The descriptions are so good and bring you into the story. The characters are so life like and the dialogue is so natural. The plot has some interesting twists, it moves smoothly and is even paced. Ms. McMasters has done a wonderful job of keeping your interest and attention. I loved this book and so highly recommend it I received the book from the author and voluntarily reviewed

Spies, Intrigue and Romance. Set as it is partially in the Peninsula Campaign, this is a different type of Regency romance. Half English, half French Juliet is a fierce fighter and spy for the Emperor who captures Captain Carver Adams of the West Devonshire when he is out scouting with his sergeant. Life for both of them is changed from that day forward. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
