About the Author

Ruth Ann Nordin has written seventy romances, ranging from Regencies to historical westerns to contemporaries. She plays with other genres from time to time, but her first love is romance. She has been happily married for eighteen years to a sweet and funny guy, and they have four sons, who are all taller than Ruth now that they're 12, 13, 14, and 16. The good thing is she doesn't need a ladder, and there's always someone to take care of a mouse that squeezes its way into her Montana home. She considers herself very lucky to have led such a charmed life. Being able to play with characters and create stories is just icing on the cake. Hopefully, she'll get to keep doing this many years to come.

He is bullyied into making a ridiculous wager. She marries him anyway because her mommy tells her too. Two pathetic characters in a poorly written and boring story.

What another great read by Ruth Ann Nordin. The Earl's Secret Bargain is the first book in the Marriage by Deceit series but some of the characters will seem familiar. If you loved her Marriage by Scandal series, you will fall in love with this new series! If you have not read her Marriage by Scandal Series, I highly recommend it. This series will be a stand alone series but does have characters that cross over. If you have read His Reluctant Lady, you may recall a bet that was revealed by Christopher (my all time favorite Character in her Regency Series) to Agatha who released it to the Tittletattle... well this book is about Lord Davenport and Lord Pennella trying to win the hand of Miss Regina Giles. The winner wins the others estate. With nothing to lose Toby agrees to the bet but there is a catch. Want to find out what it is??? Then go buy the book :) The things Toby (Lord Davenport) must go through to convince Miss Giles that he is honorable will pull at your heartstrings. This is a multi POV read. The story flowed really well, the characters where well written and very entertaining. The descriptions to detail where so well written you could easily picture in your mind the scene without overdoing it. Would I recommend this book? Absofreakinglutely! I also recommend her Regency Collection! Would I read more from this author? Just try and stop me!!

This is a sweet story that starts out with a brash wager between two noblemen over who can win a lady. Lord Pennella was determined to strong arm someone into making a wager with him so he loudly proclaimed he could get any woman he wanted and kept on until finally Lord Davenport (Toby) was snared. Toby was a true gentleman but that couldn’t be said for Pennella. A wager is struck with the loser forfeiting his estate to the winner. Hard to believe anyone could be so stupid but Toby claimed the right to pick the female, thinking that gave him some control. The night of the ball comes and the two men are checking out the females when Toby dances with Regina Giles. He knows immediately she is the one. So he tells Pennella who immediately sets a date with her. Toby asks her to go walking with him and the race is on. What good can come out of a wager this stupid??

I appreciate the fact that this book was free (that's why the two stars) I appreciate the fact that the book didn't need editing( that used to be a given, in this era of digital self publishing thats how low the bar is) The characters are ordinary and the last half of the book has nothing but sex. This book is a waste of time.

The Earl’s Secret Bargain by Ruth Ann Nordin Marriage by Deceit Series Book One Toby York, Earl of Davenport is sick and tired of the braggart Lord Pennella and gets caught up in a wager with him at White’s. Who can win the heart of the woman Toby’s chooses, Pennella or him? Who knew such a foolish wager can lead him to the best thing in his life? Or that the same wager can cause him to lose so much? Miss Regina Giles is being pushed into marriage by her well-meaning mother. They had wealth without a title and thanks to Lady Seyton’s lessons, she could supposedly catch a titled man’s eye and get a proposal within the month. This being her mother’s wishes not her own. Yet when two men both start vying for her attentions, she finds having the title that comes along with Lord Davenport wouldn’t be such a bad thing. A good honest, humble man...or not. Secrets always seem to come to light and expose the truth, they usually never choose a good time to do so. Toby is determined to regain Regina’s trust and prove that he is the man she thought he was, only trust lost is very difficult to recover. Several characters from previous books have cameos in this story, Lord Edon, Clement and Roderick and of course Mister Robinson whose book this story begins in. Looking forward to book two when Lady Seyton is asked to help a duke find a wife. **Sexual content within marriage
