The Emancipation of Robert Sadler: The Powerful True Story of a Twentieth-Century Plantation Slave by Robert Sadler, Marie Chapian

Powerful True Story of a Twentieth-Century Plantation Slave

Over fifty years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Robert Sadler was sold into slavery at the age of five--by his own father. This is the no-holds-barred tale of those dark days, his quest for freedom, and the determination to serve others born out of his experience. It is a story of good triumphing over evil, of God's grace, and of an extraordinary life of ministry. An updated edition of a classic title.

It was a very painful story to read. I had no idea that there were still slaves into the 1900's. It was a real eye opener. The everyday horror they lived with and their amazing strength. Sometimes it was so awful, I thought I was reading fiction. I thought his torment would never end. Yet, when so called freedom came, he didn't know what to do. A good read. Highly recommend.

Mrs . chaplan... I am shocked that Rev. Sadler book is being Reprinted again.. I hope that the proceeds from the sales will be going towards what he strongly believed in , " helping others that are in need". Have you been to his grave site in Bucyrus, Ohio ? Have you taken time to make sure that it is maintained properly ? I have as does my mother.. He has been gone many years, and There are a few of us who still hold him dearly in our hearts . Please, do the right thing by way of Rev. Sadler and Ms. Jackie. P.S More than likely this bio will end up becoming a movie. Congrats, this... Poor man still ends up being used 30 plus years after his death in which I hope I am wrong for strongly feeling this way . The book is a great read .

Robert's story kept me in constant disbelief and sadness over his treatment and experiences, but the way he was able to keep faith, forgive and help others at the end was truly admirable.
