Overview

The Eminem Show

On his third consecutive gem, Eminem taps into his Detroit Rock City roots and unleashes his inner White Panther, delivering his most abrasive collection of songs to date. The Eminem Show, produced largely by Em himself, finds the formerly Shady one letting go of the cartoonish thump he perfected with Dr. Dre in favor of a grittier sound befitting an artist who shares a hometown with Iggy Pop and the MC5. What hasn't changed, however, are his venomous lyrical assaults, and along with his perennial targets (his mom and his ex), new casualties include hip-hop producer Jermaine Dupri, 'N Sync's Chris Kirkpatrick, dance music wiz Moby, and Vice President Dick Cheney's wife. And while fans are accustomed to Mr. Mathers bashing both public and private citizens, mixed in with the latest chapters in his screed is some of the most candidly raw rhetoric of his short but momentous career. Tracks such as "Cleanin' Out My Closet" and the ballad "Hailie's Song," where Em makes a noble yet off-kilter attempt at singing, are examples of the artist's ever-intensifying reality theater, while "White America" and "Till I Collapse" display his newfound mastery of rap-rock fusion. Although they'll probably receive the most hype, "Sing for the Moment," a remake of the Aerosmith lighter anthem "Dream On," and the lead single, "Without Me," pale in comparison to show-stoppers such as the swinging "Square Dance" and "My Dad's Gone Crazy," quite possibly the funniest song in the Em canon. Forget the real Slim Shady -- The Eminem Show presents the real Eminem standing up front-and-center.

Wow! Need I say more? I had never listened to a rap album before, my kids wanted to buy this so I took a listen. Now, I'm a fan, just like "Stan". Eminem is genius.

Eminem is at his best here. The songs included in this album explain Em's complicated life by far.

Eminem has done it again! This album is by far his best. The way Em describes his feelings towards Kim and Hailie, among others, is phenomonal. This album let's every listener get a feeling of Eminem's everyday life. What he goes through, how he's felt about his family, how he grew up and made it big. The lyrics for every song give one a very big slice of the Real Slim Shady's heart and life.

The whirlwind of controversy that has surrounded Marshall Mathers since his mainstream debut, The Slim Shady LP, has been nothing short of Marilyn Manson-esque. With each album, however, this talented emcee has gone from a novelty act to one of the best in the game, and with The Eminem Show, Eminem displays nothing short of a modern day miracle: a white kid putting out the best hip hop album of the year. Eminem begins the album with "White America", a track which Em examines his popularity through his affect on the modern day TRL crowd and why he believes congress has beef with the emcee. On "Cleanin Out My Closet", Em gives us a deeper look at his troubles with his ex-wife and his much-publicized feud with his mother. There are many great tracks here that allow us to hear the lyrical genius that is Eminem, such as "Square Dance", "Say What You Say", and the Dr. Dre-produced "Business". Even the filler ("Without Me", "Drips", "Superman") don't necessarily require the skip button. But the diamond in the rough in this collection is "'Til I Collapse", a hardcore track with a Nate Dogg hook where Em angerily spits his venom for all the right reasons at his detractors "In this industry I'm the cause of a lot of envy, so when I'm not put on this list this **** does not offend me" and offers any emcee to bring it "So this is like an open attack I'm launchin' at 'em, the track is on some battlin' rap, who wants some static?" With "The Eminem Show", we get to see an emcee at the top of his game, but not at his pinnacle. One can only wait for his ILLMATIC or BLUEPRINT.

EMINEM-This is by far the best album EMINEM has put out. I don't think any body 'journalist & writers' that get paid realy understand were this hip-hop is coming. It's like them coming to a unknown world and giving opinions I think this Album is history and I could have no arguments that EMINEM is the best rapper of all time and there's "The EMINEM Show to prove it.

I think The Eminem Show is one of his albums where he really show his feelings like, his real dark side.He really let his listeners know how he feel about everyone and everything in his life. This album is good and i love it. If you're a real rap fan, i strongly advise you to get this album.

This album is really good. It might be better than his last one. I liked ''Sing for the Moment'' because I like Aerosmith and especially that song. He remade it well, sounds real good. ''Squaredance'' is kinda funny. ''My Dad's Gone Crazy'' is funny too and Haylie(don't know spelling) sounds cute. Not only cand he rap but he can really sing too in ''Haylie's song''(I think). ''Superman'' is funny. Me and my best friend joke around with some of these songs, even make our own video for Superman. It's a real good album.

The Eminem Show is a great CD and the lyrics are genius. Eminem has shown us once again that he is not going anywhere for a while and that he is the real thing. His music is very soothing and puts people in the mood that he wants them to be in.

The eminem show lived up to its height with brilliant songs such as 'without me' 'cleanin out my closet' 'white america' 'sing for the moment' etc. There must be about 18 tracks on there that i always listen to. Give 'sing for the moment a chance and you'll love it. 'Hailie's song' is the best song I've heard all year. 5 stars is not going over the top it really is that enjoyable. marshalls work on the album was very hard working and it must of been very worth it.The songs i dislike are 'drips' and 'say what you say'.

My Favorite song was Haile's Song and without Me. There both terriffic I can't wait until Eminem's movie 8 Mile, which features another great song on this album Cleanin Out My Closet. I also like Buisness and Superman, + My Dad's Gone Crazy.

The Eminem show may be the greatest album ever. Starting with ''Without me'', it also has ''soldier'', ''till I collapse'', ''Hailie's song'', ''Business'', and more amazing songs. I think the Hailie's song is the best song in the album because it shows how much Eminem cares about his daughter and it impressed me. I recommend it to everyone. You gotta have it!!!

As a massive Eminem fan it was with great interest that I listened to ''The eminem show''. I have to admit, the first time I heard it there was a hint in my mind that perhaps this album did not have the unique variety and catchiness which his previous two albums have had, perhaps most notably 'The Marshall Mathers LP'. However, listening to it again, I realised in fact that this is a brilliant progression from the previous album. It features a number of the same themes in different incarnations, but some of the tracks feature some fantastic innovation in terms of the sound and the beat..... not least the inclusion of Hailie Jade, Eminem's daughter, on one of the tracks... Overall I would day that any fan of Eminem, D12 or indeed hip-hop in general should not miss this album.

I think that this album is Eminem's greatest so far. I would encourage him to make more great songs and albums such as this one. As far as the headline that I wrote goes Eminem is almost no longer just another guy rapping in a group, this CD is mostly about him rapping solo. This CD I rated 5 stars because this is one great piece of work, great job Eminem. P.S. I hope your next CD is as good as this one was.

I never really heard much of the Slim Shady LP, and the Marshall Mathers LP sometimes sounded as if he was being controversial for the sake of being controversial, but it was still an amazing album. The highlights of the new album? Oh, too many to mention. The controversy has been turned down EVER so slightly and it sounds mature, and most importantly, it keeps flowing like hot oil over glass, all the way through. Whereas Eminem attacked in Marshall Mathers LP, he questions more in this album. From ''Sing for the Moment'', and ''When the Music Stops'' where he looks at his real-world influence on fans, to ''Without Me'' where he just jokes at everything (you've all heard this one, blah blah blah), the tracks keep rolling and rolling. The highlight of the album would be without me in my opinion, but only by a wafer-thin margin. The lowest part of the album would possible be in ''My Dad's Gone Crazy,'' and only because Hailie's voice will grate ever so slightly over time. That's the best I can come up with. Buy this album, if only for the jibes at everyone else...

I JUST WROTE ONE OF THESE BUT INFO WASN'T RIGHT. EMINEMS LYRICS BEATS ANYONES. HE TELLS HOW HE FEELS WITH OUT CARING WHAT OTHERS SAY. ALL LYRICS ARE TRUE I BELIEVE THERE NOT JUST SONGS IT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW AND IN THE PAST. IT IS OFF THE HOOK. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT EMINEM HAS SO MUCH AGGRESSION AND IF HE DIDNT HAVE HAILIE OR HIS FANS HE WOULD HAVE SO MUCH STREES. I FEEL HIM IN EVERY SONG EVER WRITTEN.

This album is solid all the way through, and although his other albums are great, I think that this one is his best.
