I really enjoyed the read of The Enchanted River Race. A fun filled, short story with a fast paced adventurous storyline that would hold the attention of the younger audience. It uses imagination and keeps their mind thinking with the added riddles. The short chapters are also broken up with appropriate black and white professional illustrations, helping the young audience to live and imagine the storyline. I think my 8 year old will really enjoy this as part of his collection of chapter books.
My eight-year-old son really enjoyed the book. I bought it for him because he is starting to read chapter books, and he likes books with magic in them. The book didn't disappoint him! The book's plot revolves around three kids who must work together to race a ship down a magical river. The book is paced perfectly for the young reader, and the plot is filled with just the right amount of twists and turns. Despite the simple nature of the book, the characters each have their own personality, which helps keep the young reader's interest. The book is perfect for children just beginning to read chapter books! Recommended!
Amy, of the Northern Region, was excited to see that she and her best friends were chosen to represent their region in the Enchanted River Race. The race is on the Enchanted River, which creates 3 challenges and 3 different environments that are supposed to be solved with a book of riddles and a box of random things. Who will win the race? This was a pretty good book. The plot was pretty simple, but this adventure book is meant for younger kids. I think it’s hard to find fun adventure books written well for grade school age kids. I like the idea of the Enchanted River. It is REALLY cool! I like how the author mixes riddles in the plot and it is fun to try to figure them out. The story was a quick read for me (about 30 minutes), but again I think it is because it is meant for younger kids. I like Amy. She seems like a nice kid. I think kids 7+ would enjoy this book! **NOTE I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
