As I read this book, so much of what Dr. Fuhrman presented I could recall my doctors stating. So much was incorrect from those doctors. My other skepticism was the name of the book, The End of Diabetes. I have been insulin dependent for 20 years, and have been told my body (pancreas) does not produce insulin, so this is a quack. Well, he puts it out there, if you are type 1, you will always need insulin, type 2 maybe not. So he gained some of my confidence from those statements. Furthermore, by following some of his direction, my insulin usage is reduced. Now, if I can break the habits of 50+ years of living, and follow more of his direction, I can see where my usage can reduce greatly. I may never be off insulin, but the requirements can be substantially lowered. It is well worth the read. Even better if it is followed.

Dr Fuhrman has done a good job on this book. Very encouraging. My husband has Diabetes but by complying to this eating plan he no longer has indications of it as far as all tests are concerned. His A1c is consistently around 5.6. He is not on medication for Diabetes and has gone way down in his Blood Pressure medication. We have been on this plan for about 2 and 1/4 years.

I purchased this book for a friend who is pre-diabetic and who had blood sugar levels of 276. Within 5 or 6 days of following Dr. Fuhrman's advice her sugar levels dropped to 176, and with another two weeks her levels were in the 150's. Two months ago I ordered a bundled package of books and dvd's from my local public television station where he was giving a series of lectures as part of the station's fund raising campaign. I've lost 15 pounds and feel very good. I was impressed by the science behind Fuhrman's nutritional advice and because it made sense to me. I am not affiliated in any way with Dr. Fuhrman or his business and I stand to gain nothing form this review, except perhaps feeling good about spreading the word about a dietary approach that might help someone else become healthier.

This is a very informative new way of life, yes if you are type 1 this does not end diabetes as is stated many times in this book, but really helps get it under control in a natural and healthy way. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling with Diabetes. I believe this is a must read for health care providers that take the drugs are the only way to treat this disease approach, how wrong they are! This will not be a popular approach due to current eating habits of the average individual. As I am loosing weight my numbers are coming down to near normal, hopefully in a few months I can reach my goal of little or no drugs and a healthy weight again after so many years as a plus size. Definately a must read!

This is the most well explained eating plan for diabetics. I am a Registered Nurse with 0ver 30 years of long term experience and I wish I had this information years ago to help my clients enjoy life without medications or at the least with less medications to control diabetes and it's damaging affects. The body is made to heal itself and when given a chance it does a good job. The life long eating plan described here is based on excellent science. I have been on the plan for over a month,since reading the book I decided to see how I did before recommending it to others. I have lost weight, not once have I been hungry or craved junk foods and I feel terrific, better than I could have imagined as I started this trial, now it will be my lifelong way to eat.

My understanding from doctors was that once you have this disease, you have it for life. Not true. Get the book.

Was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in November with an A1C of 8.9. Weighed only 122 but diet was mostly fast food - fries - few fruits and vegetables. Am a nurse and frequently heard of the side effects of taking oral diabetic medications. Was given the book for Christmas by my children. Now weigh 105# - have followed the diet in End of Diabetes-Fruits, Vegetables, Oatmeal-Mushrooms. No more fried food and white bread. Also greatly increased my walking. Was very happy and surprised that in June my A1C was lowered to 6.6! I am not out of the woods yet, but have lowered my risk of heart, kidney and nerve damage.

I'm not diabetic, but possibly close. The information in this book is excellent and thorough. Dr. Fuhrman tells how the body works and why you need to do certain things. That always helps me to change my behavior. It has only been a week, but I've lost three pounds and feel good. I've tried several diets but couldn't stop the hunger. I'm not hungry eating this way and I like the food. I hope many people will read this book and regain their health.
