I have learned a lot about holistic health and nutrition in the past few years. This book is short and full of facts. The only fluff is within the first chapter when the author explains his theory about enzymes. The rest of the book contains, what was to me at the time, mind-blowing information regarding the negatives of dairy, excess amounts of animal protein, "tap" water, and your body having a low PH. I have told all of my friends about this book and forced my grandfather to read it because he won't make an effort to improve his health. If you are going to grad school to be a homeopath or a holistic nutritionist, this book seems to be a basic outline of most of what is learned pertaining to nutrition. Everyone needs this information. Please buy this book. If you have read the book, look at the youtube videos the Dr. and his clinic have posted; showing the digestive tract of various aged people with various eating habits.

The enzyme factor is a book written by Dr. Hiromi Shinya, MD. He is the Chief of the Surgical Endoscopy unit at the Beth Israel medical center and is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the New York Bronx. Dr. Shinya is considered one of the top 10 medical surgeons in the world. He has a unique method of diagnosing patients with certain types of disease and a treatment plan that focuses on total body wellness utilizing correct dietary habits. His book “The Enzyme Factor” breaks down the negative process and its effects on a body that incorporates poor diet as well as the positive attributes and the effects a good diet. In the book, Dr. Shinya describes in great detail the human race and our biological compounds. His detail orientated and exact analysis is put in very comfortable layman’s terms which provide ease in reading and absorption. The focus is on the lack of Enzymes incorporated into our diets and why the degenerative process is unstoppable unless we make the diet / life style change. The information in this book is of the most credible resource. Dr. Shinya describes how he lost his young wife early on in life just after having children to Lymphoma cancer and he has made it his life’s work to figure where the cancer came from, how to beat it and how to prevent it all together. Analysis of his wife’s condition didn’t provide results until after her passing. Dr. Shinya had two young boys that developed bad skin rashes, diarrhea and bloody stool during the same time as his wife condition worsened. Dr. Shinya developed the first endoscope and performed a noninvasive surgery on his two boys. His investigation provided information ascertaining that the enzymes in milk were creating an elevated acidic condition in the lower colon and intestinal area. Stopping the diet of milk and dairy for the kids ceased all noted poor health problems and the his children are still living today because of this area of study. Dr. Shinya determined that his wife was allergic to dairy products as well and years of ingestion and fitting the infection led to her complicated lymphoma. After the doctors in-depth description of the science behind our molecular balance he also incorporates facts regarding the processing of our food and why human beings today are not getting the nutrients we need. Dr. Shinya’s approach to today’s lifestyle is non-contested and remains a factual reference in the medical world. He has treated over 300,000 patients for cancer and required each of his patients to utilize his diet or he refused to treat them. Of the 300,000 patients he has treated, not one has had a relapse of their disease. He also utilizes Kangen Alkaline water to treat, heal and prevent the reoccurrence of cancer and other disease. This book is a simple guide to relative perfect health, utilizing diet and wellness science. My wife was diagnosed with stage three multiple myeloma two months ago (final stage). There had not been a response in her treatment and four days after utilizing Dr. Shinya’s diet and the Kangen Alkaline water, her bones started to produce platelets, hemoglobin and white blood cells on their own. We have continued with the diet and treatment, and we are having remarkable results according to our oncologist. While there are many snake oil salesmen out there trying to sell you a cure for whatever ails you, this book provides factual dialog that works. If it is true that “knowledge is power” then you can’t go wrong spending $10 to $20 on this paperback powerhouse.

At first glance, this book is about health in general. But apparently a lot of things between the lines, which was like a treasure buried. So I also categorize this book into a book of philosophy, spirituality, and so on (one example is when the author discusses the lactase enzyme in the body). Plus the author's experience is very rich, both in the field of specialization, as well as the experience of his life (I think so), this book becomes very interesting to read, because the terms health is discussed is presented using the analogy of our daily lives, so it is help us in understanding it.
