I was told that my regular GP was away on leave somewhere in South America and I would be seen instead by a locum; a Dr Lightfoot, was that ok? Even if it wasn't I didn't see what I could do about it so I concurred. In reality I was concerned that a stranger was about to poke around my body in a perfunctorily manner to which I was not accustomed. One develops a kind of synergy with one's own GP.
