About the Author

Janey Bennett is an architectural historian and awardwinning novelist (The Pale Surface of Things). She first wrote about Mark Mills's architecture in 1993 for The Journal of Taliesin Fellows. The structural elegance of Mills's architecture stayed with her and, after Mills died, she felt she had to honor his work with a larger and more thorough publication.

Bill Sosin is an award-winning photographer who designs books for other photographers, including Doug Busch, James Caulfield, Dennis Manarchy, Peter Elliott, Sandro Miller, Dave Jordano, and others. His most recent architecture book design was for James Caulfield's and Patrick F. Cannon's The Design Within: Inside Great Chicago Buildings (Pomegranate).

A gorgeous book about the architect, Mark Mills, whose houses are breathtaking and whose life as a significant American creator will now be remembered and valued. The text embraces both biography and philosophy and includes insightful comments on Mills's unusual structures. Very highly recommended.
