While this book is interesting to look at, it is VERY difficult to translate the block patterns to a useable form. There are no measurments for rotary cutting. I have had to figure out on my own the measurements for some of the templates. Many of the templates are irregular sizes and shapes, making the use of the CD mandatory. Each template on the CD is it's own PDF, making it neccesary to print out each template. The templates are placed on the page such that each template requires it's own piece of paper. There are over 100 templates. It would have been easy for the author to give rotary cutting measurements when applicable, and to place multiple templates on each single page PDF so that printing the templates was more efficient. This book is user hostile and could have been made user friendly very easily.

I agree that this book & CD are very hard to use however, Marti Michelle has converted 101 of them for use with her templates for FREE. Go to her website & there's more information. No, I am NOT her employee, but I am a devoted follower! The book itself is delightful & reminds me of stories my mother told me of this era. Enjoy!

In my opinion this book is very difficult to use even with the CD of templates in the back of the book. There are other books on the market that use this concept of quilt making that are more people friendly.

I have enjoyed this book - enjoyed making one block at a time - each block different, so each is a fresh new experience. I joined a Yahoo Group doing this project and have completed more than 30 blocks in the month I have had the book. With the completion of each block comes the satisfaction of instant gratification! Such fun!

I read this book in one afternoon. I absolutely loved being able to take a peek into the minds and lives of the farm wives in 1922. I'm a farmer wanna -be, a history nut, a bookworm, and a quilter, so this book was right up my alley. The only reason I only gave four stars is because I haven't tried making any of the blocks. There are templates for the blocks. I do not personally enjoy cutting pieces from templates. However, I may still make this quilt, and I am very happy with this purchase.
