About the Author

The Fifth Device is author Gunther Boccius's second novel. His first, In Apparent Contradiction, is a story still valid. Both stories are about characters confronted with conflicts, seeking opportunities and searching for identities. Gunther prepared for writing with a degree in economics, followed by government and business careers. Writing on the Lake Tahoe's shores, he skis, kayaks, runs, bikes, and hikes the pristine lake basin.

The lessons of trial and error and the accountability of Shakespeare's "to thine own self be true" allow Gunther a happy life. He is single, a doting grandfather of three girls.
