This book had me captured from the very beginning. The raw emotional journey I read was enthralling. Maggi Myers words brought out strong emotional reactions everything from love, friendship, caring, understanding to rage, hatred, and down right pissed off!!!! I loved the character Beth; if I had to use one word to describe her it would be GRACE. The strength that she portrayed throughout the story kept surprising me over and over. Beth portrayed patience to her parents once back in Miami, affection to her loved ones in Iowa, especially Tommy, and loving devotion to Ryan. The story is wrapped around the tale of first love of Ryan and Beth, the connection they make, as teenagers is profound. As they grow the things they experience are real and believable. The tragedy that brings them back together after 10 years was heart wrenching and sorrowful!!! I felt the pain that each character experienced which just added to the brilliance of the story. I finished this book a couple of days ago and have thought of many, many times and I know I know I will have to read this book again, to discover all the details that I missed the first time around. Maggi Myers you did an outstanding job on this book!!! I cannot wait to read next book...

The Final Piece by Maggi Myers is a beautifully written, emotional story that will absolutely touch your heart. I adored this book! It truly is one of my all time favorites. It is completely engaging and you will sob, laugh, sigh and fall in love with these characters, I promise you. The Final Piece is a story about many things, the first being the love that starts between two teenagers and continues into adulthood. It is not a young adult book at all so don’t let that deter you from reading it. It is simply a beautiful story for ALL ages. This book is also about one girl’s journey to healing and living again after the unspeakable happens to her. It is also a story about unconditional love and how sometimes the people who are most important to us and who impact our lives the most are not related to us by blood. It was at times heart-breaking, funny, romantic and always just straight-up amazing. Beth, our heroine, is a strong, amazing young woman. A survivor who you will be rooting for the entire way. Ryan is a sweet, caring, and trustworthy, young man and the type of boy I’d like my daughter to meet when she’s old enough. And Tommy----there really are no words for the depth of my love for him. Amazing, understanding, fun, supportive, and unconditional love are just a few words that come to mind when I think of Tommy. I totally fell head over heels for him. What an amazing character!! I really enjoyed the rest of the characters as well. Uncle Rob, Aunt Melissa, Gran and Pops were so wonderful; they make you wish you could be part of their family as well. The dialogue between the characters was excellent and there was just one great scene after another in this book. I highlighted lots of great quotes in this one too. One of my favorites, said by Tommy of course: “Don’t waste your time missing me, silly. I am always with you…There is a saying that goes---‘Together forever, never apart. Maybe in distance but never in heart.’ You are with me, baby girl and I’m with you. Always.” I cannot read these words without tearing up. Such beautiful words from a beautiful man. I will admit that this was a difficult book to read at times and at one point I had to step away from it for awhile to recover. It was well worth all the tears though! It’s simply one of those books that stay with you long after you read the last page. And speaking of the last page, the ending was perfect and just as it should have been. In conclusion, I honestly cannot say enough good things about this book. I simply could not put it down and loved everything about it. Please do yourself a favor and run out and buy this book. I assure you you will not regret it! The Final Piece is a beautifully written, emotional story that will unquestionably touch your heart.

"My heart is in pieces that will never fit together again."  <=== That is how I felt when reading the first 75% of this book.  But, just like Beth, I found the final piece to put myself back together.  My final piece began at about 80% and finished with the beautiful epilogue.  My heart bleeds such beautiful tears over this book.  Tears of heartbreak.  Of sadness.  Of anger.  Of relief.  Of grief.  Tears of joy.  When I first started reading this book, I was shocked at what I read on the first few pages.  I wondered where the author was going with this.  My mind kept leaping to a horrific presumption, but I was in denial thinking, no, this is not what I expected.  The author wouldn't go there.  *shakes head*  Would she?  Well, she went there!  I even threw up in my mouth a little.  I've read horrific stories with abuse of the heroine before, but not like this one.  In fact, I've never wanted to "Bobbitize" someone in a book before...until now.  Thankfully, Maggie Myers did give me a reprieve, and although those first few pages were haunting and sickening in content, they blinded me at the beginning of the book, serving as the perfect background for a beautiful story of a young girl damaged and broken into a million pieces, only to find promise in a childhood friend. Maggi Myers has delivered an exceptional novel of love, loss, hope, and healing in the face of anguish, trauma, and a wounded soul.  This book is easily one of my favorite reads for 2012 and has rightfully earned its place on that special bookshelf only coveted by other books.  I proudly give this book 5 stars and my highest stamp of approval and recommendation for a heartfelt tale of promise.  This book is wonderfully, "Pretty."
